Written Recap of Liquid vs Dignitas, a mirror matchup up extravaganza from Gosu Coaching's Premier League.

This is also meant to serve as my writing sample for TL jobs application. It also showed me how much work goes into writing! Hope you all enjoy.

EDIT: Fixing up all the errors still as I go along D:
+ Show Spoiler +
Game 1 Blistering Sands
PvP
Liquid’(P)Tyler vs. d(P)NaNiwa

+ Show Spoiler +
Both players open up standard 1 gate gas core, and begin warpgate research at identical times. Naniwa is seen pulling probes from his gas and commits to going korean 4gate all-in with pure zealot.

Tyler manages to probe scout Naniwa’s build but struggles to keep pylons from going up around his base. Naniwa manages to warp in at least two pylons and begins his assault through the front door and also through sneaking a zealot into Tyler’s mineral line. Tyler warps in a group of stalkers but despite microing against Naniwa’s swarm of zealots, his probe line is wiped out and more zealots come to reinforce. Tyler is forced to GG giving Dignitas a quick 1-0 lead over Liquid.

Game 2 Shakuras Plateau
ZvZ
Liquid'(Z)Ret vs (Z)Killer

+ Show Spoiler +
Cross positions spawn, Ret at the 7 o'clock, with 1 o'clock for Killer.

Killer sends out an early scout and spots Ret’s fast expansion while he fast expands himself. Killer goes gas first then spawning pool, while Ret opts spawning pool first.

Ret finishes speed a few seconds ahead of Killer. He sends to two zerglings into Killer’s base, spots a Baneling Nest going up for Killer which forces Killer to cancel and lay down a late Roach Warren. Ret escapes with 1 Zergling and Killer follows with 6 lings but is stopped by Ret’s massive Zergling army from pure ling production. Ret gets aggressive and moves into Killer’s natural. Though Killer manages to defend with a handful of lings, 2 queens, and a few drones, a misclick by Killer sends a Queen off creep and to a quick death by the claws of Ret’s Zerglings.

In the mean time, Ret has been pumping roaches and moves about 5 roaches with a good clump of Zerglings to continue pressure. Ret begins to solidify his advantage and obtains range and armor upgrades at his two evo chambers. Ret also begins breaking his backdoor rocks to take a third. As Ret just about finsihes his third expansion at the 6’o clock position, Killer breaks the opposing backdoor rocks with Zerglings and snipes the finished Hatchery. Killer takes his third at the nearby natural of the 4 o clock position.

It’s not enough to deter Ret however, who is far ahead in the upgrade war with +2 range and +2 armor on his roaches and moves out the instant the upgrades finish. He pokes at Killer’s third with Zerglings, forcing Killer to engage Ret’s +2 +2 Roach army without Roach speed of his own, and is quickly decimated making Killer GG. Liquid ties it up 1-1 with Dignitas.

Game 3 Xel Naga Caverns
TvT
(R)TLO vs (T)SeleCT

+ Show Spoiler +
SeleCT spawns top position, with TLO spawning at bottom position.

SeleCT opens a gasless Fast Expansion build while TLO opts for a standard 1-1-1 opening, delaying the Starport for a moment to favor the production of a siege tank and siege upgrade while SeleCT expands. TLO pressures with about 5 marines at SeleCT’s natural but is repelled. TLO breaks down the rocks and takes his gold expansion knowning SeleCT is still shaken up from early pressure, and moves out once again with two tanks, a banshee, and a squad of marines to continue pressure at SeleCT’s front door.

TLO moves into SeleCT’s natural and manages to siege a tank, but loses all his marines in the skirmish. TLO’s banshee snipes one of SeleCT’s defending tanks, while his tanks splash all the SCV’s attempting to repair. SeleCT has vikings on the the field that try to land and snipe a weak tank, but in a pimpest play moment, TLO picks up the weak tank with a hero medivac and extends it’s life for a few more moments. The skirmish outside SeleCT’s base forces him to lift his Orbital Command until he can fend off TLO’s attack. TLO attempts to move in further but is forced to pull back due to SeleCT’s tank positioning backed up by marines and vikings in the main.

Back at TLO’s base, a mass of barracks go down due to the economy of a saturated gold base. TLO also moves to take his third at his natural. While expanding, TLO once again moves to pressure SeleCT with marauders and siege tanks. TLO again takes a great position outside SeleCT’s natural and forces SeleCT’s small force to engage once again to defend the natural. TLO’s economy is booming from the gold base and a continuous stream of TLO’s units are seen moving up to reinforce as SeleCT is forced to defend wave after wave of TLO’s army with his own force of marines and vikings. Eventually, SeleCT’s forces break under the pressure and SeleCT GG’s. Liquid claims a 2-1 lead against Dignitas.

Game 4 Jungle Basin
TvT
Liquid’(T)Jinro vs (T)SjoW

+ Show Spoiler +
Jinro spawns at the top left while SjoW spawns bottom right.

Mirroring SeleCT from the last game, Jinro opens a gassles 1 rax FE build while SjoW opts to climb the tech tree with 1-1-1. SjoW chooses to produce a banshee and begin upgrading cloak while Jinro expands. Jinro star senses the oncoming banshee harassment and produces one viking from his starport with missile turrets at his natural an dhis main.

SjoW sends his first banshee to Jinro’s natural and picks off a few SCV’s but is deterred by the turret. Jinro misclicks a scan allowing SjoW to escape with a tattered banshee. A second banshee arrives for SjoW and takes out more SCV’s in Jinro’s main before being taken out by Jinro’s viking. SjoW continues on with the banshee pressure while expanding at his natural with two more arriving and kills two marines, along with a siege tank. Jinro, who is low on energy at both of his Orbital Commands, also loses a precious supply depot with extra call-down supply to SjoW’s banshees, and is now up against the wall from continuous banshee pressure. Jinro patiently waits for his energy to build up until finally he scans and repels the harassment. SjoW feeling ahead from his successful harassment and forced scans from Jinro goes ahead and takes his third at the front expansion.

SjoW is caught by surprise when he finds Jinro has also sneaked a banshee into his main, which manages to kill 9 SCV’s. SjoW manages to repel the banshee by putting up two turrets, and responds with even more banshee harassment of his own in Jinro’s main while moving up with an impressive marine - tank army. Jinro, who has been stretched thin by SjoW’s relentless banshee play, is engaged out of position by SjoW’s army and is annihilated. Jinro GG’s tying up the score 2-2 between Liquid and Dignitas.

TvT
(T)Jinro vs (T)SeleCT

+ Show Spoiler +

Both players spawn cross positions, with Jinro spawns at the 12 o clock position while SeleCT spawns at 6 o clock.

Both players open up standard 1 barracks 1 gas in light of the two failed FE builds for both Liquid and Dignitas. Both tech up to factories, while Jinro deviates with a reactor on his barracks which swaps with his finished factory. Jinro begins a command center to expand. SeleCT instead puts a tech lab on his factory and begins blue flame research while producing a medivac. Just as Jinro moves three banshees in front of SeleCT’s base, he spots the medivac filled with hellions moving out for a drop. Jinro prepares some vikings at his main to deal with the inevitable harassment.

Despite Jinro’s foresight, SeleCT manages to drop into Jinro’s base due to Jinro’s vikings being out of position. SeleCT’s hellions do almost no damage before being killed off, so SeleCT follows up with a Thor drop which is again spotted by Jinro through the Xel’Naga towers. SeleCT persists and manages to drop the Thor right on Jinro’s mineral line and kills 10 SCVs before being destroyed. While harassing Jinro’s main with both the hellions and his Thor, SeleCT has expanded to his natural and begins taking his nearby third at the 4 ‘ o clock. Jinro, however, has been sitting comfortably on a third base for a while and both players begin to macro up during a small cease fire.

Both players try to take middle lane positions through a standoff of siege tanks, marines, and vikings. In a tactical error, Jinro attempts to land his vikings in order to kill SeleCT’s siege tanks but loses all of his vikings in the process without scratching SeleCT’s forces at all. SeleCT takes the oppurtunity during the skirmish to attempt another drop in Jinro’s main, but Jinro amazingly star senses the drop incoming and brings a squad of marines who immediately intercept the medivac at the 4 o’ clock natural and kill it. SeleCT tries to reinforce the 4 o’ clock position with a few tanks and marines while taking the 4 o’ clock natural as his forth, but Jinro pushes back at SeleCT at his position which forces SeleCT to cancel his expansion and pull back. Jinro leaps ahead in bases by taking is 4th and 5th at the 10 o’clock expansion and main.

With Jinro ahead in bases, SeleCT attempts to push back up the lanes to the 10 o’clock in order to try to regain momentum in the game. SeleCT manages to catch a good number of Jinro’s forces out of position and wipes them out, but Jinro engages with his main massive army and deters SeleCT’s aggression as SeleCT tries to push into Jinro’s third.

SeleCT again tries to drop except this time at Jinro’s 10’o clock base in the main but SeleCT is again frustrated by Jinro’s patrolling defenses. Jinro responds by dropping SeleCT’s base while SeleCT just finished his 4th at the 4 o’clock expansion. Jinro is much more succesful than SeleCT and manages to pick off a factory along with some addons before getting his drop cleaned up by SeleCT’s forces. SeleCT takes his 5th at his nearby gold and his 6th at the 4 o’clock main.

SeleCT manages to surprise by taking a positional advantage out of no where to defend his gold expansion, shelling Jinro’s tanks at the Xel Naga tower. Jinro attempts to weaken SeleCT’s position down the lane but SeleCT’s tanks are in too great of a position which forces Jinro back. This instigates a number of skirmishes up and down the lane as both players attempt to take position advantages in both lanes, with scans being dropped at mass frequency, in a very impressive showcase of multitasking and decision making from both players as they attempt to claim a dominant position.

During the skirmishes, Jinro manages to put up a Fusion Core and begins producing BattleCruisers.

The battle is now focused at the 4 o’clock main and natural of SeleCT as Jinro reinforces his tank positioning with vikings and battlecruisers. The battlecruisers begin breaking SeleCT’s tank line while Jinro’s tanks siege any marines attempting to pick at the battlecruiers. SeleCT puts up a good fight by regrouping his army and absolutely refuses to let Jinro through. However, Jinro’s death ball continually grows and begins elevating tanks up to the 4 o’clock main which then take a dominant position over SeleCT’s army, continually shelling all the ground forces.

Jinro pushes forward by firing two Yamato cannons from his battlecruisers, which kill two tanks instantly. With that signalling flare of victory, Jinro’s forces move forward and destroy SeleCT’s last stand, forcing SeleCT to GG.

Jinro is up 1-0 in the ace match against SeleCT.

Game 2 Jungle Basin

Jinro opts for a gassless opening once again on Jungle Basin and expands while SeleCT takes his gas and goes 1-1-1, proxying a starport near the 9 o clock base. SeleCT begins a banshee and cloak. Jinro AGAIN star senses something fishy and sends 1 marine to scout the proxy starport. SeleCT’s banshee finishes and moves into Jinro’s natural and manages to pick off a mule. A scan goes off and the banshee is picked off by Jinro’s viking. The second banshee enters the main, cloaks, and picks off a constructing SCV. It gets scanned, but the banshee escapes. Jinro is out of energy and the banshee kills 9 SCV’s before losing cloak and gets picked off.

Mirroring his Terran teammate SjoW, SeleCT persists with a third banshee into Jinro’s base which manages to kill even more SCV’s. Jinro attempts to counter with one banshee of his own but SeleCT has a line of marines waiting for the banshee, which force Jinro to pull back.

SeleCT ends his banshee harass as both players lay down more factories and barracks to macro up, both now on two bases. SelecT’s proxy starport is finally picked off by Jinro’s army, but SeleCT moves up while Jinro’s army is out of position and takes a position in the right mid xel’naga tower and eventually outside Jinro’s base with tanks.

Jinro moves out with a dropship in an attempt to regain some momentum in the game. The marines are unloaded right outside SeleCT’s base and moves up to SeleCt’s third but is killed by SelecT’s marines guarding the front. Jinro moves up to take his own third and faces there is a face off for the mid position between the two Terrans. Jinro finishes his third expansion in the face of SeleCT’s army and upgrades his CC to a Planetary Fortress.

SeleCT again moves in with more drop play into Jinro’s natural and kills a good amount of SCV’s before Jinro pulls them. SeleCT respositions the to the left lane of mid and begins shelling the planetary fortress. SeleCT again multitasks a drop into Jinro’s main and picks off more SCV’s. A huge mass of marines moves through the backdoor once again of Jinro’s natural and destroys everything, and moves into the main to ruin Jinro’s production line. Facing attacks on multiple fronts, Jinro is forced to unseige at his position defending the third and attempt to push right through SeleCT’s position, but is crushed by a mass of SeleCT’s tanks and key positioning. Jinro loses everything and GG’s.

Game 3:
NO VODS
SeleCT wins though for a 3-2 victory over Jinro, and a 3-2 win for Dignitas over Liquid. Great games, especially the TvT's.

Your format is wrong for the TLO one. You said the map in the middle instead of the end.

Otherwise, great write up! :D

Game 1 ace match was an hour long O_O but a very good TvT. I personally liked TLO's game as well against SeleCT on Xel Naga. If you have time those were my two favorite to check out.

Wow thank you for the this. But isnt it in the wrong section?
