Yo, I'm looking for a game to play on my laptop. I'm looking for preferably an RPG or something like that.
not diablo. or baldurs gate.
I'm on a laptop, so I can't handle anything that great. I can run bw and war3. But I want something that's pretty fun, takes a while to complete. I played Never winter nights, which was quite good (anything similar?) But really I'm just looking for a fun game that I can play in my spare time. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated it doesn't have to be an RPG at all. Single player or multi-player is good with me!
Muchos Gracias

Oblivion or morrowind with mods.

Thanks guys, that doom stuff looks pretty awesome, will defo give it a look. Oblivion and morrowind just don't look like my sort of game fallout isn't for me either. Thanks anyway though man. Anyone else?
Obviously the aim of any game is just to be fun, and I want something really different. So at the moment, I'm playing populous and braid. I just want something original, preferably old as my laptop can't handle it.
anyone else got any more recommendations?

Doesn't torchlight come out in a few days?
|
hm, torchlight looks good man. Think that might even run on my laptop. Cheers bro.
I can't exaggerate how much I love Braid. I think everyone should give it a go. Some of the puzzles are damn difficult. There is no luck or blind finding, it's using your brain and working it out. And man it's rewarding!! Everyone go get it now!

My videocard couldn't handle it. -_-
Wtf2dgraphicsrape.
|
hm. Not sure if I can handle it then.
I'm using intel core 2 duo processor (1.66 Ghz, 667 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 Cache) 2 GB DDR2 Intel Media Graphics Accelerator 950.
I don't know what any of that means, I'm just reading it off my laptop. Will it work?

Depends, if you say you can run War3 and BW you probably can't run Oblivion or games of that order.
A couple of really really good old games that I've been hardcore addicted (along with BW) for the last 4 months were - Civ 2 - Heroes of Might and Magic III - Grim Fandango.
Also maybe look at the Monkey Island game. The first two Broken Sword games are life changing and Sam and Max: Hit the Road is hilarious.
and RPG's uhhhh...a Snes emulator with all the classic SNES RPG's would probably do you. I dunno man, I've not played or seen any particularly good PC RPG's recently
Definitely think bout getting Grim Fandango if you've never played it before.
Oh, and if you've never played or heard of "The Last Express" its totally amazing. Just pure perfection, and pretty cheap to buy online. Theres a free demo on the website I think, but think about buying the game rather than dling it, its such a sad story about how it dissapeared into obscurity

Nono, my system can't handle braid.
I can probably run Torchlight just fine. I think.
Braid runs at 30 fps on an Intel GMA? wtf... I have an integrated nvidia card. ~_~

try Age of Empires the original, pretty good
|
|
You could try KOTOR 1. I imagine it's pretty cheap by now. Was game of the year iirc with great storyline and should keep you entertained for a while. Also the replayability is decent.

Yeah evan, I was playing the original age of empires online, but I just got raped by the community there. They're all pretty die hard and been playing it for years, and I just couldn't close the skill gap. There's no noobs there at all.
It also gets a bit boring, the only tactic is, assyrian and tech straight to chariot archers. Thanks Piy! well definitely be having a look at some of those.
My other recommendation to everyone here is populous: the beginning. That game fucking rules sooooo hard. From the makers of dungeon keeper. It's the most different strategy game ever made. Like I can't even emphasize how many people don't know about that game. But it's a real classic. They still have a community of a couple of hundred. It's a simple game, but the more you get involved it gets very complex, and will keep you busy for ages.

Good recommendation, I didn't believe many people knew about this game. I'm actually playing it at the moment and it's very gripping.

Also, if you're willing to go super-old school, some good choices are:
X-Com Ultima 7 (my favorite one, but the ones before 8 are all decent, just the graphics/interface become less bearable the lower you go) Might and Magic 4+5 (the fact that dumping both games in the same folder connected the two worlds and let you play them as one big game was the most awesome feature ever) Wizardry 6-8
