Base trading a terran is a great idea!
Hey, it could have worked.
+ Show Spoiler +
Re-game!
GumBa spawns in the same position and wonders if he's experiencing Deja Vu. Lorning knows he isn't, because he's not going for the low ground forge first.
Lorning shocks every single human in the world and shellbot by going nexus first.
He proxies a pylon which confuses GumBa once scouting has been done.
Lorning does some light pressure with his two gateways.
Meanwhile, GumBa sneaks a medivac into Lorning's base.
Suddenly, a widow mine detonates on an entire worker line!!
Oh… it only killed 3 workers.
A bit of macro later, GumBa moves out with a moderate bio force.
Since TERRAAAAAAAAN, GumBa randomly decides to drop all of his units in Lorning's base instead of doing a frontal attack. Lorning moves out with a zealot and sees about 5 units that couldn't fit in the medivac just sitting there.
A photon overcharge and a cannon easily fend off the drop.
However, GumBa drops an invisible marauder!!
A zealot sees GumBa's third and starts harassing it. Meanwhile, GumBa sends three workers to mine there.
GumBa sends his bio to kill the zealot, but they seem content to watch a good sporting match.
Lorning reveals that he knows how to play macro PvT.
While the scouting factory is killed, GumBa stims down a ramp. Because why not?
Lorning is trying to look up professional games to figure out how he's supposed to engage in late game PvT, as none of his games have actually gotten to this point. That's why he backed off.
At this point, I've actually written what happened in the following five pictures several times, but I keep losing this blog and I'm not re-writing it. It's self-explanatory anyway.
Two armies go for each other. This is the essence of starcraft 2. The setting happens to be GumBa's fourth base.
In this case, Lorning gets wrecked.
GumBa goes for a massive counter-attack.
Surely, with the army values so stacked against him, he can not possibly win… wait… what on earth?
GumBa still rallies to his fourth base non-stop.
Lorning manages to exploit this by running into the natural expansion with some zealots.
Lorning prepares for the late game by getting a 5th base…
…and 3 stargates? What?
Meanwhile, we have some templar v ghost action going on again.
GumBa attacks with his marauder/viking/ghost army and crushes through.
But wait! Lorning is actually doing tons of damage with zealot/DT harass!
Meanwhile, Lorning tries to put up a good fight in his main but it's pretty hopeless there.
While GumBa is producing units at a faster rate due to his production dying slower, Lorning is still mining off three bases.
Hey look, more base trade stuff.
At this point, Lorning literally has over 43 times as much mineral income as GumBa and he has gateways at his third/fourth.
He's… sort of not producing units though.
Lorning tries to break GumBa's last base with zealot/DT but goes for one of the turrets instead of the PF, which ends up killing everything.
However, he's had at least four gateways up at every point for about 5 minutes, so he should have made tons of units, right? Right…?
Things are not looking particularly great for Lorning.
Lorning sneaks back into his own main and builds… a stargate and a dark shrine.
All of Lorning's probes get caught by GumBa's bio force.
Lorning decides that he can just use all of his money to build nexii everywhere despite having nearly no probes.
Suddenly, RANDOM PHOENIXES?!
GumBa takes his first map of the series in a bizarre base trade! While he did well enough to protect his remaining base while constantly sniping Lorning's, something has to be said about Lorning's decision making there. He made tons of gateways and never produced anything, then made a dark shrine, did nothing with it, and eventually went phoenixes.
This is probably why Lorning cheeses every game.
Anyway, the score is 2-1. Can GumBa continue to come back in this series? WILL WE SEE AN EIGHT GAME BO7???

Fun fact: This is the first drop involving more than 2 marines this tournament.
Suddenly, a widow mine detonates on an entire worker line!!
Close your eyes!

Notice how the colossi are shooting under the health bar but the marauder is at 100% health.
A zealot sees GumBa's third and starts harassing it. Meanwhile, GumBa sends three workers to mine there.
GumBa sends his bio to kill the zealot, but they seem content to watch a good sporting match.
Those lazy bums.
Lorning reveals that he knows how to play macro PvT.
Colossi, Templars, and kill the scouting factory. Well played.
While the scouting factory is killed, GumBa stims down a ramp. Because why not?

Those vikings just sit there the entire time.
GumBa goes for a massive counter-attack.
Surely, with the army values so stacked against him, he can not possibly win… wait… what on earth?
Admittedly, he warped in ten zealots first.
GumBa still rallies to his fourth base non-stop.
Lorning manages to exploit this by running into the natural expansion with some zealots.
Those marines are like "I never signed up for this!"
Lorning prepares for the late game by getting a 5th base…
…and 3 stargates? What?
Lorning has been watching my PvZ. Carriers incoming.
Meanwhile, we have some templar v ghost action going on again.
"LOL, I have as many ghosts as he has units" -GumBa
GumBa attacks with his marauder/viking/ghost army and crushes through.
"My life for Aiur! Wait… there's something shiny over there."
But wait! Lorning is actually doing tons of damage with zealot/DT harass!

Those have been there for a while without building, and so were the ones at the third and in the main.

You sorta need DTs I guess?
All of Lorning's probes get caught by GumBa's bio force.
Good stacking though. That makes it easy for three hellions to kill all of them.
Lorning decides that he can just use all of his money to build nexii everywhere despite having nearly no probes.
Suddenly, RANDOM PHOENIXES?!
Best unit to make in a base trade such as this, IMO.
No, I don't think that really worked.
