I'm heading to Tunisia tomorrow and I was wondering if anyone has experience in that country. I'll be in Tunis for a bit and I have two free days to myself. Does anyone know of any activities I can do? Maybe places to get some good food? It's actually my first time abroad/on a plane, so I want to get out of my comfort zone and try something new for myself. Thanks!

I had a lot of fun going to the souq, sit down with sellers to bargain for the shit I wanted to buy. It's a fun activity and they will serve you some delicious mint flavored tea. Thanks everyone! Souqs look like an interesting place to be. I wasn't even familiar with the word; it's pretty much like a bazaar right? I've been brushing up on my French, so maybe it would be a good way to practice speaking. I'm actually going there for an excavation, so I'm not really there for holiday, but I'm deciding to stay a few days longer after I finish up the season.

If going off the beaten path in that region you should inform yourself about the security situation in detail though. After all you dont want to be the next guy in the news for having disappeared. The German Foreign Office has quite a few warnings for travellers to Tunesia. To certain regions you should not go at all. Even though it is still better than its 2 neighbours.
