Season 13

LotV started off kind of strange... The GSL Pre-season matches were full of upsets and surprises. Players that were dominating in HotS all of a sudden could not produce the same kind of results in LotV. And players that were kind of invisible in HotS all of a sudden became the center of attention. (ByuN and aLive anyone? Oo;; ) Of course, now that some time has passed, the old dominant players are definitely starting to come back into the spotlight. ((P)Zest and (T)Maru holy crap...)

[image loading] WCS: Unfortunately, the new format makes it pretty darn impossible to do liquibets for WCS now. RIP WCS Premier/Challenger. But major congratulations and props to (P)ShoWTimE, (Z)Nerchio, and (Z)Snute for kicking ass. (Sorry (T)Polt, you don't count because we all already know just how good you are)

[image loading] SPL: The interesting thing about SPL so far is that there isn't a single team out there right now that can be called the "New Prime". MVP and Afreeca Freecs looked like they were sort of going to take over that role, but they always manage to pull off some sick wins when it matters the most. And on top of all that, there is no one team that is completely dominant. SKT seemed like they were heading in that direction with their Round 1 victory, and then showed everyone that they too, were indeed mortal with their Round 2 performance. Speaking of Round 2, major props to both KT and Jin Air for bossing it up this round. And major respect to CJ's (P)herO for carrying his team like such a baller. I hope everyone else is just as excited for the final remaining round as I am.

[image loading] GSL and [image loading] SSL: Congratulations to (Z)Dark for finally getting out of that dreaded and infamous kong line! Unfortunately however, his rise to prominence may be short lived because Korean protoss players are just dominating the scene left and right right now... (Proleague Round 2 playoffs results were: (P)Classic: 4 kills, (P)Stats: 6 kills, (P)sOs: 3 kills and (P)Zest: 1 kill) Absolutely ridiculous... Speaking of Zest, taking that GSL championship like such a baws was riveting. Granted, as a terran player I would have loved to see (T)TY win it all, but there was never any second of doubt in my mind that Zest wasn't going to win another GSL. If things keep going at this rate, we're in store for some seriously amazing SC2 action.

So now, with all that's been said and done, let's go ahead and take a look at this season's Top 10 for liquibets:
(NOTE: In my opinion, I think I should have won this thing. The fact that I didn't means there's definitely some unfair black magic voodoo stuff going on around here.)

    1       167       WigglingSquid
    2       167       kell234
    3       167       Voltrik
    4       166       Kaizor
    5       165       stuchiu
    6       165       Seeker
    7       165       Jaramir
    8       164       The_Red_Viper

Link to SC2 Liquibets Season 13 Rankings

I kid you not, not in a million years would I have expected an ending like this. kell234 was DOMINATING like crazy on the liquibet rankings. He was constantly leading by double digits between first and second place spots with no sign of slowing down.
I'm not sure what happened, but all I know is this: Persistence and diligence does pay off when it comes to liquibets. Because not only did two other people catch up to kell234, they grabbed first place spots and forced out a 3-WAY TIE!!! (First time ever in TL history!) I don't think kell234 himself could have also foreseen such an ending. I'm pretty darn sure he was expecting to take this one by himself. But dang, Voltrik and WigglingSquid, congratulations to the both of you. You two never gave up and now you're co-liquibet Season 13 champions!

So without further ado, CONGRATULATIONS to WigglingSquid, kell234, and Voltrik!!!

GZ to the three winners!
Couldn't catch up at the end -.- Especially frustrating considering that if i had simply voted with my head (JinAir) instead of my heart (KT) i would have won (srsly did everyone at the top vote for KT?)

I hope Bisudagger ends the bw one soon though, haha

Were you tempted to extend the Liquibet season slightly in hopes that you could finish first? Also is this the first ever Liquibet 3-way tie?

Nah, I'm a pro dawg, I don't let feeling get in the way of my duty.

Man, I'm an idiot. I should have just banned the Top 5 right before KT vs Jin Air took place.

And yeah, first ever 3-way tie.

Seeing how I did horribly for a while, I'm OK with top 100.

Man, I'm an idiot. I should have just banned the Top 5 right before KT vs Jin Air took place.

Banned users can still place liquibets

What if he permabanned them and then unpermed them afterwards? Would that work?

Well, if I registered earlier...
My stats:
Number of Points 85 of 106 points voted on
Correct Votes 39 of 51 votes made
Points Percentage 80%

If I voted on all 240 points, I may have 192 points

congrats to the winners!
Some upsets in coda A made me lose points.

But glad I did JinAir in proleague. I trusted in statistics

Takeways: stuchiu seems to actually understand who is supposed to win, his articles might not be as bogus as I always thought and even Viper can be taken seriously despite all the shitposting.

I'm not salty but it feels like too many points are awarded for big finals and semi finals matches - and if you get a few of the big ones wrong, no matter how impressive the rest of your predictions are you're basically screwed. It does allow for comebacks I suppose but I would cap the max points at, say, 5 points for something like a GSL finals.

anyway, congrats to the winners.

I won two Liquibets straight in LL, finished 3rd on 2nd place.

Beat that.

I don't see you in the top 10, does that mean we shouldn't take your posts seriously?
