Another obvious difference: Fantasy is actually almost 3 years younger than MMA, and just won the most recent OSL. So really, I don't understand the Sonny/Michael analogies at all. On topic: well written article, and GO POLT!!!! It's way deeper than what you listed. If you read the article it's basically saying while Fantasy might hold the reigns(Sonny) and be the muscle(OSL/BW) he isn't like his father(Boxer). Meanwhile there's this new face(MMA) on the block whole is like his father and could potentially take over the reigns. Disregard physical age and actual scenes and just look at the symbolism.

But, that's my problem with the analogy. On what level are we assuming that MMA can take over the reigns, when we're comparing two different games in two different scenes, where the scene Sonny/Fantasy is in has shown no signs of slowing down? Sure, in a few years, such an analogy might be prudent and accurate, but when we reach that point, who knows how successful MMA will be? Anyways, I understand the bigger picture with the analogy, but was just a little puzzled by the fact that MMA has a long way to go before becoming "Michael," and Fantasy certainly isn't going to get metaphorically gunned down any time soon either. This is basically you guys looking at the first hour of Godfather, while I skipped ahead and viewed the first two movies.

Here's to the hope of Warcraft 3 players in Starcraft 2 everywhere. Here's to the high achieving Professional gamer who also excels academically at the highest level. Here's to the alpha-nerd Poltprime! I BELIEVE!.

I also feel sorry for Polt. If he was to read the part about him, he sure would hate the most of TLers.

I had some lines in an earlier version that went into a little detail about iloveoov and midas, but doing that sort of made the BW part overlong. Basically Midas was too dry, and iloveoov was a force of nature in his own right and pretty much defied comparisons to anyone else. Iloveoov is the first iloveoov, not the second anyone. BTW the finals are TOMORROW, and I'm damn sure going to be openly talking results by the time we have group selection ceremonies ^^

I like it when connections are made to bring the scenes together and storylines that span both games rather than the whole "it's two different worlds" approach a lot of people have today. =)

Other differences between Fantasy and MMA * MMA does not suddenly play incredibly horribly and lose badly * MMA will not GG 10 minutes after he has lost * MMA can use bio Yes you'll see I have the T1 badge but it's mainly for the T1 toss players who I root for
