Oh wow Assault_1 that is one scary monster, I would NOT be able to sleep, if I've ever seen one of those inside the bedroom !
Edit * Actually all of this thread is giving me those tics, you know, the small, fast shakes when you see something creepy or disguisting. Thanks OP, thanks.

Spiders are great except for venomous ones, but the only venomous ones here are brown recluses and black widows. Only angry hornets scare me, flying around like mutalisks. I can't shoot air.

FUUUCK me too I was at my friend's cottage one time, and I made the mistake of volunteering to help put out the campfire. I was one of the last ones to leave the beach to go back to the cottage, and when I got back all the beds/tents were filled up. I decided to just crash on the sofa of the living room for the night. They decided to keep the kitchen light on just in case, which was terrible because I'm sure there was an open window somewhere and all these mosquitoes, moths and flies got into the cottage. I put on sweatpants on top of shorts and a thick hoodie on top of longsleeves, double socks and hands tucked in to expose no part of my body put my face, and tried to go to sleep. ALL FUCKING NIGHT bugs were just bzzz-ing around me, I had my music on and I could still hear those fuckers flying around me. Worst sleep in life, I had to actually wait till pure exhaustion overrided my involuntary fear to pass out. Since I was in the living room/kitchen, people woke up hella early to catch a FIFA world cup game and woke me up to get sofa space. When I rinsed off the next day at the beach, I noticed I had bites all over my body, including through my double layered sweater and longsleeve, on my SKULL, on my thighs (ridiculous cause I was curled up in a ball all night so I dont know how they got in). I essentially got raped by mosquitoes.
LONG STORY SHORT, I hate things that can bite/sting you with a passion (mosquitoes, bees), but I can stand moths/flies/spiders because I know if you can just tolerate them they wont bother you directly.
PROTIP: In a confined space (bedroom with closed windows/doors, sealed off tent, closed car), simply put up a light source in the middle of the area to attract the flying bugs and kill them all before sleeping. For example, 30 minutes before sleeping in a tent, we would zip up the tent, hang a flashlight off the middle and snipe all the flying bugs before sleeping. Spiders and crawlies will sometimes also try to get up to the top via the side of the tent so you can get those as well. Make sure you're sealed up though, or else you'll attract unwanted extra bugs.
Ugh, I need to shower again before sleeping tonight after reading this thread.

The stories in this thread makes me laugh :D Although I'm currently 17, I myself am scared to ALL bug, insects, or any of those creepy crawlers =(
I'll try to contribute:
When I was a little kid, I was FEARLESS of bugs and I mean FEARLESS. Is there fly in the air? I'll kill them by clapping. Is there a mosquito? Do the exact same thing. Flying insect on wall? I'll slap the thing dead. Spider on wall? Slap em dead. Other crawlers on wall? Slap, slap and FATALITY! On the ground? Hand in air --> Run --> Jump --> Slap/pound --> Death. Slug outside? Get my salt. See a multitude of ants? Annoy the crap out of them! Does size matter? NOPE! :D
One time (still as a kid), I had this awesome Coco Puffs cereal. I decided to eat it, so I poured a bunch into my bowl. I'm a weird kid, so I never put milk in my cereal. As I watched tv, I grabbed my spoon and dug into my bowl. I'm not sure if I ate any, probably did for who knows how much, and noticed a crap load of ants in my bowl of cereal. I acted pretty cool, not caring much from the ants, as I simply told my dad what happened. He took my bowl, dumped the stuff in a bag, grabbed the box of cereal, threw it in a bag, and dumped the stuff in the trash. I still wonder or not whether I ate those ants...
Now in the present day, I am sooooo scared of any creepy crawler. It must be karma for the all the things I've done to bugs as a kid. If I see a bug on the wall, I'll kill the thing, but it's gotta be a tiny little guy. However, I'm not brave; I gotta get like a large piece of paper towel and smack it dead. I do the same thing when I see a fly or some other bug on the wall. If I can't kill it, I gotta call for my mommy. My parents have an immunity to insects since they grew up in a third-world country as farmers before moving to America.
A couple summers ago, I went to Laos to visit my distant relatives. It is a communist country (I think, I'm too lazy to check) and it's a third-world typed country. As I spent my 3 weeks there, I met SO MANY BUGS EVERYWHERE OF SO MANY DIFFERENT KINDS. My relatives are poor and many were farmers...so I slept in a rural area for half my stay (other half with a relative in the city, but it was still almost as bad). Mosquitoes pissed me off the worst; I believe I counted more than 30 bites the whole vacation. I slept on the floor where bugs can easily crawl on me. However, I stilled enjoyed my stay with the exception of these stupid little insects.
Reading through this thread made me so very itchy and paranoid. I kept looking around myself looking for bugs.

I hate these bastards and spiders so much. If I see one in my room at night I must slay it before I go to sleep.

I feel bad for watching this, but it is SO fucking cool.

I'm scared of wasps and bees. Back when I was like 10 years old, my dad brought me on a hunting trip. In Louisiana, we have some wasps that live underground. I don't know what species it was, but with our luck, the one clear path in the forest had a damn nest in it. My dad accidentally steps on it and we just start hearing buzzes. He runs a little ahead, and my 10 year old self is on the other side of the nest. I see wasps start pouring out and he just tells me to run through the wasps. I got stung in the nose, forehead, and a few times on my arms.
It didn't really hurt, but it was so mentally terrifying as a little kid. And to this day, I avoid wasps and bees like the 5 Rax Reaper into Mass Marauders All-in or Expansion vs Zerg when Reapers weren't nerfed at all strategy.

Please spoiler any insect pictures in this thread (or spiders), they cause me to chill, I cannot even type a comment correctly with that last image on page one right above me. Anyways I am deathly scared of all flying insects that make a buzzing sound, but mostly spiders.

Think this picture is relevant to this thread and it basically sums up what I think of wasps, eg. fuck those guys. + Show Spoiler +

100% agreed. All you guys should read books about insects, you'll see how facinating this littlecreatures are. You know that it's absolutely stupid to be scared of such small and defenceless creatures ?
And please, if you see a bug you don't like, don't kill him, just put it outside. They are armless and friendly.
EDIT : I'm starting to love spiders as they catch most of the mosquitoes that are going out of the lake near my garden. When you see a spider, imagine it's a buddy that just came to get rid of those annoying mosquitoes

I'm not afraid of any insects/centipedes/whatever shit people mistake for insects, except spiders. I hate spiders like nothing else. A few years ago I couldn't even see them on TV / photos. I remember once reading a magazine, turning the page and seeing an unexpected horrible full page spider photos. I screamed an through the magazine like if the spider was on my arm.
I don't know why spiders trigger that kind of reaction, since I used to have a lot of these in my former house, and everytime I found one, I would grab it and through it outside :

All spiders are venomous. Just in varying degrees.

Wow thanks for that, I had no idea :O

I like moths, they're like butterflies, except fuzzier and greyer and somewhat dumber. And bees, bees are quite friendly as long as you aren't an idiot. Wish we had more bees around here
Dislike insects that actively screw people over like human bot flies and screw-worms. Wiki them for more information then you'd care to know >< Never met any of them personally, though.
