Mind, “I played with good sense today”
Mind recovered from his loss last week, defeating Light twice in a row, reaching the Round of 8 after 9 seasons in the 2011 ABC Mart MSL.
Next is his interview.
Your feelings on reaching the Round of 8 after 9 seasons.
It’s been a really long time, but I kept it out of my mind. The games today rather filled me with a lot of anxiety. So I’m still not fully myself yet (laughs). Whenever I prepare my builds, they don’t usually work as well as they should but today they went through nicely so I feel good.
Did you realize that it had been this long since you’ve been to the Round of 8?
I had no idea. I knew that it had been a while since I had won an MSL but it seems like I continued to lose without even reaching the Round of 8. So I’m happy in those terms and since I’ve always gotten to the semifinals once I reached the Round of 8, I’m looking forward to this time as well.
You had lost the first set.
It was ok the in the beginning of the game but then I used my units very poorly afterwards. I kept making little mistakes and eventually I lost in the battles too until the differences in army strengths were too high.
It’s possible to have your morale cut if you lose in a long game.
I lost in a long game but I didn’t linger over it too much. It would have affected me more had I lost to a certain build. I only thought about preparing well for the next game. It’s comfortable not having to play all three games in a row while on the other hand since I was losing, it was difficult to pick a build.
In the third game you him paid back with a proxy barrack.
I picked it after thinking about what build to use. I prepared an 8 rax build for the third set but my opponent did just that in the second set so I was like what (laughs). It became pretty fun. I actually thought that my build would be blocked easily but I had destroyed a lot of his SCVs, which helped me play the game with an advantage.
Has your play come back?
This season I’ve lost to a lot of Terrans. So I was really shocked and was disappointed that I had a poor record in the matchup that I was the most confident in. It was mentally burdening after losing that first set. After losing games when I say that “my sense is good” has disappointed me a lot so I had practiced really hard for today and I ended up being able to play with some good sense.
You are going to be matched up with someone according to the KeSPA rankings and the chance of meeting a Zerg player is high.
I haven’t practiced my TvZ a lot recently. It won’t be difficult preparing for it but the Zerg players today are greatly evolving through the metagame so it won’t be easy playing them. I think I’ll have a good chance depending on how I prepare myself.
Any last words.
I want to thank BaBy, Midas hyung, and Major hyung for helping me practice.
