So today marks a year of me being at TL, which means I finally get a report button! I decided that this is as good a time as any to make my first blog. I suppose I'll start by describing how I got into BW and then came to TL.
Some time ago, one of my friends started playing a game called Starcraft and urged me to buy it. As it was merely $20, I bought the Starcraft Battle Chest. As a fan of RTS games(My favorite was the C&C series, which are awesome games btw. If you haven't, you should buy C&C The First Decade), I enjoyed Starcraft enough to want to finish the campaign. One of the things that impressed me the most about it is how perfect the graphics are; very crisp and clear yet they take very little processing power(Red Alert 2 is the only other game like this).
Yet I didn't really start to enjoy it as much as I do now until I found out about the progaming scene. The most memorable series I watched at the time was the series between SKT and Khan in last year's Winners' League. Little did I know, most of my favorite players would play in that game(Bisu, Best, FBH, Fantasy, Stork, only missing Jaedong, Khan won that series 4-2). At the time, I decided to follow Khan because they seemed to be a pretty strong team.
Soon after, I was trying to learn how to play in multiplayer. But what better way would there be to learn how to play than to copy top players? Problem was, I didn't know any of the top players, so I went in search of them on Youtube. Yet at first it didn't seem like such a player existed; Nal_rA struck me as seriously gimmicky, and Reach and Kingdom just didn't impress me. Yet soon after, I did find a player who exemplified everything I like about protoss: Bisu. He quickly became my favorite player, as his games were both amazing to watch and showed a great deal of skill through standard play.
At some point, I found a map called Fighting Spirit on US West, and I took a liking to it because it was one I had seen played in the progaming scene earlier. On the map description, I saw an advertisement for ICCup, and eventually I decided to take a look at it, and eventually I downloaded the ICCup client and started playing games on there.
I was amazed at how skilled the ICCup players were, so I decided to take a look at the ICCup forum. One of the most mentioned websites on it was Liquipedia, and I found that that website also had progaming coverage, so I decided to check it somewhat frequently. Soon after, I found out about the forum associated with that wiki, and I joined after I wanted to comment on the Blizzard vs KeSPA dispute. Ever since, I've watched the proleague whenever possible despite the inconvenient schedule.
It's really quite amazing how much can change in a single year.

Sheesh that's ridiculous. I registered a day after you and don't have nearly 4k posts. -_-

Oh, you just get a post by any other post to report it if it's in any way banworthy.

Damn nice post count. I've been here longer but haven't broken 400 yet.
Grats! It's always cool to see how people got into BW. It always seems so magical since the game is (was?) so underground haha.
Also, as someone who also loved the early C&Cs, for anyone who's interested EA is actually allowing you to download those 1st gen C&Cs like Red Alert and Tiberian Sun/Firestorm for free. (You can just google it.) It's so funny going back to it after all these years. Really makes you appreciate BW even more!

Seniority over Post Count thats my philosophy, also grats :3

Congratulations! I remember my first series I watched around when I discovered Teamliquid was Bisu vs. Savior. Even though I knew almost nothing about Savior, I knew it was a pretty big deal. =P

1 year, and you have 4000+ posts.
It took me years just to scrounge up enough titanium to build a 2 meter cockpit.
Now i feel inadequate. thanks.

i will never understand how ppl can post so much each day. I tend to post in waves, but i get "post fatigue" and then drop back into lurking for a while XD

Haha, so many posts about my post count. I think it's just that I fanboy a lot for Bisu. That can be 30-50 posts a day on some days.

And yes I check TL a few times every day. On the other hand there are others that post or have posted more than you. FrozenArbiter is the best example I guess.

It's good to see a relatively new member who came here for BW rather than SC2
Congrats!
