I'm trying to do the new Funday Monday where you announce the 3 units that you make for the rest of the game...
So far it's been loss after rape after loss.
I've had 1 win so far, it was a ZvZ and I was going roach hydra, and hit a nice hydra +1 timing.
It's so darn frustrating, making zealots to kill mutalisks, and marauders, and hellions to kill banshee/viking. I've certainly cursed the name of Sean Plott and Uniden on multiple occasions.
But alas, I diverge. After one game of losing TERRIBLY, post match chat reveals RunnerJimbob: you certainlhy made for a more entertaining and friendly morning. Appreciate it. GG
Ah. That's what Funday Monday is about.
It is worth it Sean Plott. Having FUN. I'll try to remember that and smile and chuckle viciously as I get demoted to Platinum any time soon. :D
|
Wasn't that funday monday was supposed to be for 3v3s and 4v4s, not 1v1s?
|
This is last night's new Funday Monday. It's a monobattle but for 1v1s.
State the three units you'll only be making the entire game (workers/queens/ovies/observers excluded). That's it!

Banes don't do very well against blue flame hellions and banshees. :[ Loss again. :D
|
Well, I'm going to try a few interesting things as protoss, assuming i can get an expansion up and running without stalkers...
GL with yours, and if i do manage to win with mine, it probably won't be impressive enough to show on the daily.

Why not just: Zealot/Stalker/Sentri. 4 Gate or 6 Gate?
Tons of P's do nothing else so...

That's boring...
I did just win vs a T going zeal sentry DT though.

I think the idea is he wants you to mess around with timings. Zealots counter mutalisks by attacking before they're out. Don't think in terms of unit counters, think in terms of build counters.
Obviously you'll miss your attack timings a bunch since you aren't used to it but thats the point, by doing this you'll learn to think in wider terms than unit composition and thats what he tries to do with his funday mondays.

The problem with DTs is that if you say you are going for them, any smart terran will throw up turrets.
I'm thinking more something along the line of WARP PRISM, ZEALOT, IMMORTAL or something.

He did throw up turrets. But I scouted reactor rax so I stole gas. He had to fast expand and make LOTS of marines. Sentry forcefield forcefield, gg.
Then again not all Terrans know that you're actually going to make DTs when you just say it.,

It's really hard trying to break roach ling spines with zealots and sentry... But it's still fun. :D kind of.

Most standard matchups revolve around 3 units :X ZvT: Large Maps: Ling/Infestor/Ultra Medium Sized Maps: Muta/Ling/Bling Small Maps: Ling/Bling/Roach
ZvZ: Roach/Ling/Infestor ZvP: Roach/Ling/Corruptors ^^
I think it's also good, because instead of transitioning into a different unit, you can just try burrow timings, drop timings, and upgrade timings out :O
|
Reactor ready!
Marine/hellion/viking. Should play around with just those three units.

I'm playing random thus far. TvT,
For T, I go Marauder, Hellion, Banshee. No anti air, auto lose to banshees even with turrets. :[ Banshee harass in main then follow up with blue flame hellion in natural is SUPER strong holy cow. (But I still haven't won with T)
For P, I got Zealot, Sentry, DT. If I can get to DTs, usually I've won, and doesn't matter if they have detection. The tricky part is holding off banshees/roaches/mutas. I haven't had a PvP yet, but I imagine that it's going to suck.
For Z, I go Baneling, Muta, Ultra. I'm thinking of throwing in roach instead of muta cuz everything's so gas heavy. I do have quite a bit of fun with bane bombs though. :DD
I'll try to mix it up and not be so... standard. But it's pretty hard in diamond when most people have a pretty good idea of what they're doing.

That actually sounds like a really good composition... I'll try it out! 0 gas usage though. I suppose that's a good thing.

If you announce baneling, you can't use zergling to attack, correct? Maybe that's why you're losing If you go: Hey! I'm going to use a unit that kills off any marines you throw at me, but don't 2 rax! into a unit that takes about 6-7 minutes to get onto the field, I don't think it's possible to harass with mutas while holding on with just banelings ><
As for Protoss; you announce using DTs and your opponents don't get detection!? D:

What could be fun: Terran -> Marine/Viking/Battlecruiser

I'm assuming so yes. I don't usually pull my lings until I've morphed them. I've actually had pretty good success with banes.
And usually my opponents do get detection, but you have to realize that it's quite hard not to over do detection while still staying ahead even though you know the units they're making. DTs force portable detection as well as stationary detection in mineral lines as well as a constant fear of expanding and moving out. I found it's really effective to be totally aggressive with 2-3 gates on full wg production and then switch to DTs with the extra gas. It throws them off completely.
I just found out that marine/medivac/hellion loses HARD to banes/roaches/ultas.

The point of funday monday is, as you pointed out FUN! Go for something wacky like zergling, corruptor, ultralisk or stalker, carrier, mothership That's what I would do if I wasn't way behind in my homework and if I had my mouse...
