Thread is about the various issues surrounding Japan in the aftermath of the recent earthquake. Don't bring the shit side of the internet to the thread, and post with the realization that this thread is very important, and very real, to your fellow members.
Do not post speculative and unconfirmed news you saw on TV or anywhere else. Generally the more dramatic it sounds the less likely it's true. |
Did a quick search saw that no one posted this yet so here it goes. Hope that everyone is going to be okay and that no tsunamis crash onto the shores as a result.

Really wish that I could have more to say to stir discussion so, for those living on the coast line of Japan stay close to your loved ones, watch the news, and listen for tsunami warnings. Remember that similar things happened off the coast of Indonesia and killed thousands, although they were not nearly as prepared as the Japanese are, you can't be too careful.
Nuclear Crisis Summary: http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3396817&userid=0&perpage=40&pagenumber=1 As a result of the tsunami in Japan the cores in nuclear power plants have been exposed and have become extremely unstable, here is a link to the SA forum where the OP shows what's really going on over there, answering some questions and giving good information. Thanks to CyberPitz for linking this to me.

Not sure where the quake hit, but the NY times is reporting that a tsunami has hit . It's just on their alert bar at the moment - will update with an actual story once they have it posted.

What is going on with all these natural disasters :O
So it was an 8.8 quake, THE a tsunami?!
|
Heard that cnn is covering live somewhere..
Tsunami waves hitting the coast.
|
oh wow.. hoping for the best to japanese people

Gnarly.. Theres been alot of major earth quakes lately.. I live in Cali and am getting a little worried.. the plates are on the move!

It may be tactless but i always think of ring of fire song from johnny cash when there is a earth quake in that region. In terms of countries preped for such a thing i think for japan it's not as bad as in other regions but still hope for the 2nd best. The best is no earthquake and that didn't happen.

Wow that is some serious damage shown on the livestream from AL Jazeera, really hope that there isn't any loss of life.

8.8 is fucking ridiculous. I really hope japan rides this one out ok, the ABC did a cross report that suggested several CITIES have been innundated. That is not good.

Watching now. Thats a massive earthquake, best wishes to everyone affected.

Man I have never heard of a quake with such a magnitude, keep in mind the Richter scale is exponential, a quake of 8 on the Richter scale is 10 times the intensity of one with a 7 rating. I hope all the best for those in Japan, scary stuff.
