Probably the halocaust picture... About the kelly pics - I think that there have been a lot more offensive pictures in the thread and several comparable memes (asain father, gracken ...) but some mods took offense to the kelly meme and no discussion will sway their opinion on it..

I remember in the first GSLs that the initial reception to the guest commentators Jason Lee, and Assem was very poor. Even in MLG Dallas initial reactions to dj wheat weren't favorable. It's just happens that the starcraft community is highly critical of unfamiliar people or things. When I watch non GSL streams on the weekends for tournaments, half the chat is about how bad the commentary is. I understand your dissapointment for them calling things consistently wrong, but saying "these commentators are horrible and dont know anything" isn't contributing anything but needless complaints. If anything I hope these bans change the attitude the teamliquid has towards casters, if it's the first day, even week, for kelly. give her a chance, not immediately dismiss them because they aren't your casting archon. But I doubt it will. I've been browsing here for almost a year now and there's been caster commentator wars and complaints since the beginning. Was it even like that during brood war? I can only guess that it was but not to this extent. I can only hope that in the future, this community will be more receptive and open to new community members, because I know it is and that it can be. It's just that the amount of hate posts triples, or more, the amount of supportive posts that occur.

Nevertheless i agree to a truce on the Kelly issue, so that she can take her time and show what shes got. Never prejudice anyone by the first impression you get, maybe she will do some really good casting soon. Cant get that one off my mind, so i will post it: Teamriquid hwaiting!

If you don't understand why people have been temp banned for kelly then you obviously don't realize that a lot of posters on here and contemptuous, immature, and just don't give anyone a chance. It doesn't help that a lot of people I see are IdrA fans, who think that its fun and games to lash out opinions regardless of how harsh it is because of they realism they deem the opinion to have. It's just that the amount of hate posts triples, or more, the amount of supportive posts that occur. What if those concerns are legit though? Remember, good things have happened from community feedback too, no matter how harsh it sounds, like the impact of the first GSL season tickets? It caused an uproar that there was no free LQ stream and GOM was pressured into providing that free stream, otherwise who knows where we would be now. Similarly, that thread with the rumors about GOM rigging brackets for Boxer (which I remember participating in, with you). GOM came out and announced random map draws and such. Look, if you want to help promote the growth of the game, sometimes you have to push for the best. Not necessarily meaning KellyMilkies isn't good enough (though comments and credentials say otherwise), but keep in mind that GSL is supposed to be the highest level tournament for SC2 out there. There has to be some standard - some people are also paying for it - if you allow GOM to experiment as they like (like hiring her without consulting the community?) without criticism, there may be repercussions down the road. Like if Blizzard was never pressured by the community to add chat channels, who knows how long we may not have had them - which other future games may not have them. While I'm not promoting baseless bashing of her casting (in LR threads, no less), there is a tendency for people to be overly lenient as well. Out of the 100/200 pages of LR thread, there HAS to be some sort of legitimate concern here. Like every time I read something criticizing SC2, there are always people saying give it more time. How much time do you want to give? Sometimes the community needs to step in to drive the game forward, you know? Especially with high expectations riding on the game. Sorry for the long rant, just want to say, don't be too quick to dismiss the negative feedback as nothing as well. Doing nothing and waiting can be just as bad. Try and think about their concerns - I'm sure they are as passionate about the game as you are. Oh, and out of curiosity, I understand the LR actions and all, but what happened to the Code A Caster Interview thread? Are TLers allowed to comment on her at all? Just asking~ don't hurt me :<

The ban mentions pirated stuff and I know it is against the commandments but I have a hard time believing that warrants a perm. Did he post links or just talk about it? I guess I'm suprised at the severity because from what I saw he was a decent poster and he ran several tournaments which were pretty prefesionally done with casted semis and finals and a little prize money... One of his was my first ever tourney. Anyway he seemed like a decent guy so I'm sorry to see him go. We talked it over, he is fine.

Just asking~ don't hurt me :< To into theemo, i get what you are saying, and to answer that I quote this. On February 22 2011 17:17 Manifesto7 wrote: Those bans were less about being more or less offensive than other pictures, and more about derailing a bandwagon. and also kwark about it being in a live report thread. I honestly read LReport threads to see reactions to peoples plays and just other peoples takes on it, but most of it is about commentators. Go dig up old GSL threads with other commentators (particularly when tastosis was at blizzcon), and you'll see the trend was similar. Maybe there needs to be a seperate commentator/social discussion for every live report thread, i don't know, but it was clearly an issue as seen last night. There's a difference between constructive criticism and derailing, I know and you know that the majority of posts fall in the latter. I'm not saying to be lenient, I'm asking people to be open because it's just a trend that I'm seeing that most people aren't open to casters that aren't the select few.
