1) how hard might it be to separate the chat channel from the stream.... maybe a LAAAG solving solution might just be to freeze ALL the Ustream channels and start each show (until they all learn) directing viewers to ANOTHER PROVIDER _just_ for the chat channel?
2) Maybe someone even knows one able to handle ALL 12k on the same channel "Chat1" so some don't get sidelined from being able to participate in the Q&A shows, and
3) have a separate channel for the chat-spamming 'funny-guy' commentators to have free reign?
Any thoughts?

I don't know if quoting myself is explicitly discouraged, but i'd like to update my previous post.
Day9fan.com does not have the song from daily 261, but they have the songs from daily 262. I'm assuming that means the song I am looking for has been missed.
I checked day9fan's youtube channel for pre show footage and there is none for 261 (as it was just music being played with the overlay up).
So, the typical resources for finding out about the music day9 plays are not working out. If anyone knows what song it is he played, I would love you forever if you could post here or PM me about it. I... must... have it.
There were a number of people asking in chat #2 at the time as well, but I don't think anyone had an answer.

Cool that Day9 noticed my 2 comic suggestions: Powers and Invincible. Out of those 2 I'd say Powers is the better series though, it's just that damn good.
Btw, if anyone wants to read good stories that haven't already been overhyped by everyone else, you can't go wrong with either of those.

It's not that ustream can't handle 12k on one channel, it's just that it's unpleasant to have 12k on one channel. Even with slow mode turned on, it would be basically unreadable. Unless slow mode was like 3 minutes between posts, which would also suck.

There've been several times where a track was impossible to find. Maybe you could update your IRC client to broadcast titles to the chat. There are several scripts that can do that. (although it would suck for overflow channels :/)
If you're using winamp. You could try the "toaster" plugin. It displays title&artist, you can customize the display duration and background or no background at all and more importantly you can let it appear anywhere on the screen. (preferable in the area that is captured for your stream  ) Don't know if it conflicts with your other overlays but it would be worth a try.
Or you could make a dump of your mp3 folder and upload it somewhere. There are several tools that can generate song lists like that from folders/playlists.
There is just to much good music on your side that remains a mystery. Can't wait 'til you crowdsource even more cool music too. =)
btw>on mystery music..as a I kid I always hanged out at this pinball store, played pinball, went on deliveries of sold machines and even repaired some stuff (and built a wired electric rod with a super strong magnetized tip out of broken solenoids and scrap parts..fun times ^^). He had this awesome cd it had a purple cover with a green onion icon (or something like that..now that I think of it that sounds really odd maybe it was a speaker instead), it only had like one song that was 30 mins+, it was the most bat shit crazy bat shit shit that I ever heard. To this day I still don't even know the genre of that stuff. I wish I'd still know the owner so I could ask him what it was..it contained electronic stuff and all kinds of noises and random sounds..it was crazy but still music..I guess it was made by zombie cows, abducted by aliens, who percieve time 7x faster so to them it was a 5 minute techno song..damn I wish I knew the name.. xD
