Tickets to play for starcraft were $60 I believe It was only free to spectate at DC (because DC was a Doritos Combine event and IIRC, Doritos subsidized the spectator pass revenue...thus free entry). All other MLG stops required a $15 spectator pass.

I really don't see MLG starting off this year on the best monetary note..... Maybe one day we will have a tournament that will rival GSL in terms of prizes, but oh well we still gonna get some seriously epic games out of it all. Bring it on!

Edit: Can we expect anything up here in Canada this year? I think Sundance said on a few shows that not in 2011. My guess for the venues (pure speculation) is the standard locations as in Raleigh, Dallas, Orlando, Columbus, then the rumors were Seattle and Providence (Rhode Island). So I'm not entirely sure I can make it to any of them this year but we'll see. Would have loved for them to come back to DC, although being in like Arlington/Alexandria, VA would be a better option than National Harbor in Maryland (cheaper to find food, and metro accessible meaning easier to get into the city for food/places to stay etc.). As for people asking about spectator passes, the only events that are free to spectators have been combine events (like the on in DC last season) the rest all of spectator passes that cost like 20-30 bucks (dunno what it'll be this time but probably in that price range). If you register with media credentials you get a media pass which is free and gets you a few other perks like access to wireless internet and bottled water (trust me, you want something to wash the copious amounts of sugar from the endless dr. pepper) among other things.

After hearing Sundance on SotG, I wouldn't want to miss a single event. Be glad Dallas isn't that far to us. Definitely worth it. Not sure if I'll be dropping the money required to stay at Aloft though. Might hit up a motel to save on cash.

That was DC, then, which was both a pro circuit stop and a combine event (the latter being the reason spectating was free - it was part of a deal MLG had with Doritos to make all combine stops free for spectators). The rest of the stops all required spectator passes.
