It might be offtopic, But can someone PM me on how to disable advert blocking for www.Teamliquid.net only?
I'm a google chrome user and im using the Extention AdBlock - Versie: 2.2.23 & with that, Can i also disable the ability to click on adverts? the main reason i use adblocks is because i misclick on them (And that they bite quite some in the loading speed of pages.)

Didn't realize adblocks stopped the revenue generated from the ads. Though the biggest reason I have adblock is not to block the random ads on the website but to block the commercials in streams, am I going to have to disable it there too? It's annoying to have to have to watch a bunch of ads in preparation or have to watch extra ads if you want to close and reopen streams.

I saw the banner with the stuffed horses and my heart just melted. The horses are too cute to just ignore. Besides, the ad isn't even that overbearing. It's like a small rectangle that is barely even noticeable.

A negative side effect of the awesome horse banner is I almost did not want to turn my ad block off. It made me chuckle a bit when I saw it !
Good idea however, I didn't even realize I had it on on TL 0.o! Off now.

I never thought of turning my ad-block off for TL until I saw that horse. My eyes were attracted to it, because in the space where there is usually nothing, there was now a friggen' horse! So I read the text, then looked more closely at the horse. I stared deep into its beady black eyes. They seemed so sad and forlorn, it was like the horse was saying: "Please Mr. Wiggles, please turn off your adblock. TL needs your help, you can help us!". So with tears in my eyes I thought, "just for you Horsey!", and moved my mouse over and turned off Adblock for Teamliquid, "just for you Horsey".
And that's the story of why there's a coupon advertisement at the top of my screen now.
Gogo TL!

The horse banner is just amazing, kinda tempting me to leave the adblock on. Nah, just joking, disabled it now, I usually forget to disable it on the sites I like, for example Rock, Paper, Shotgun I've had it on for a while until I realised that I had it running there - immediately disabled it after that. I like to support the sites I frequently visit, so removing the adblock is not a problem. Especially with TL.net where there's like 1 add on the whole page

There are only a handful of sites of which I allow ads. This is one of them. It doesn't hurt me and it supports the community. It may only be for a few cents but every little bit helps.

Thank you sir, I love you.

I immediately disabled my AdBlock for TL.net ... If that helps them, not like I'm actually clicking on the links, then it wouldn't hurt me, since I'm already delighted to be a tiny lil' particle of this community.
I mean, whatever floats your boat - that goes. My boat can float with seeing TL.net with ads, since they politely asked me to disable my AdBlock ... I can't see a reason to just go with whatever you want and don't make a fuss about it. Ads or no ads, this site is of infinite value !

I turned adblock off, thinking there might be some relevant targeted advertising, and then was faced by one of those stupid weightloss ads. I turned it right back on again. :~(

love to point out the other massive flaw in his point, you pay for cable yet you get ads, taken to writing a campaign against the networks yet? pay to see a movie, you get ads of other movies, welcome to our capitalist society

Would any admin shed light on exactly how they receive payment through ads? Is it by pageviews, ad impressions, clickthroughs, or something else?

Sometimes it's based on how many clicks to the ad but usually it's just a monthly fee paid to the site. Sites with higher traffic can charge more per month. (I think, not 100% sure)

I just installed ABP to see the cute horse show up Then I whitelisted TL. Like every other regular visitor I'm glad to help out whereever possible.

I was kinda wodering something similar, simply because I'll turn AdBlock off for TL, but I don't understand how that can help? I can't recall having ever clicked on an off site advertisement link, and will having it just not disabled benefit TL in any way?
(For clarity I've disabled it at any rate to show my support for site and the community, just curious.)

I've honestly never even noticed that AD until I saw this thread lol. That's how little the ad space is... sigh smh
|
I have to confess I didn't disable it until i saw mako's post. You still gonna send me a horse plushie ... right?
|
I just disabled my adblock (I'm pretty sure.. lol I haven't ever tried before so we'll see if it works). I also didn't even see the horse banner (weird.. but if it's not on the minimap I just ignore it). So at least this thread has done a bit of good .
Tbh I didn't even think of disabling it until I saw this (although the horse banner would have convinced me.)

TL has a mix of ads, some pay per click, some pay per view. This is why even if you never click on ads, disabling adblock still helps to support sites with ads.
