I'm currently in silver, and have yet to encounter bm. A pleasant surprise I must say. Though I did have an instance of........I dunno what to call it. A player went like 10 pool, and rushed lings at me. I had already walled off, with a cannon, and had a zealot in hold position at my gap. He tried to bait my zealot out, but as soon as he saw I had it on hold, he just says GG. I ask why, and he says, "if you're good enough to put your zealot on hold with a perfect wall-off, you're way better than me". I lol'ed........and rushed carriers. So was he bm'ing himself, lol??

There's no correlation between league and manners. Each individual has his/her own level of manners.

I started out in gold then went to platinum and am now in "mid" diamond (atleast i suppose 1600 plus is mid srry if im wrong ) and ive noticed that people are usually more hostile than they were before and dont normally want to talk a game over, this was not so when i was in gold because the people usually didnt mind a few customs after a game and both adding each other to help get better on there down time from laddering etc, when i was promoted to platinum it stayed the same until i was in the higher level of diamond about to be promoted most people were very rude and virtually never gave a "glhf". I think it all depends because everyone is different but the better you get in this game the more serious everyone takes it from my experience anyways, it may not be so in customs but on ladder when someone loses they simply dont want to know "why" they lost because they either think they know or even do have a grasp on there weaknesses. Some people find BM to be amusing and entertaining but i dont like it at all and i think we would all get better at this game if everyone just got a long and had a good time. ^^

Trust me, Being BM has nothing to do with skill. Higher up or lower down, there are good and bad.

I'm sorry that you feel that way, i know it must be hard for you to accept that people want to do Great in everything they do, Some of us aren't good at many things in life so we aim to get better..i think your logic is terrible, even in real-life people "bm" or are upset when lose...
+ Show Spoiler +
I could post ENDLESS links of sports, and just about anything where people get fustrated.. if anything i find you mite be a bit deluded if you think people don't take absolutely everything serious, to you its just a game, to a person like me its my hobby its what i love, i put as many hours into this game as i can because it mentally stimulates me.

My "BM"
I don't gg when I get 6 pooled, cannon rushed, bunker rushed. I'm sorry but that wasn't a good game. Any other time I will, and sometimes I'll type what I did wrong.
I don't say glhf unless they say it first, even then I feel dumb saying it. I don't like saying it because I don't mean it. It just feels like such a scrubby thing to say. SC2 is probably the only game where I've seen this.
If someone tries to talk after I win I just ask them to leave (a few sentences are fine, but when they go on for like 5 minutes about their terrible build and don't leave it's really annoying).
|
i enjoy ignoring people who flame or rage because they lost or are losing.
normally i don't type and just play the game.
bad manner can be found at all levels of play it just really depends on the person...

Eh it's not that bad. I actually just get along with most ppl I play with.
And hell, sometimes I complain when I lose. Sometimes I get pissed when i lose to stupid marine+thor+scv rush(im protoss) and say something like "great, try and do this once the game is patched" and then leave.
Is that a big deal? No, it's just how i feel. Not like im calling their mom fat or something.
just yesterday I had a pvp game on jungle basin where the opponent cheesed me with cannon rush. in response i chrono'd zealot and made my own forge, and put cannons next to his nexus protecting them with zealot.
we killed each other's zealots and it was a stalemate.
i had more probes, and a zealot, but i didn't want to sit and wait forever for one of us to leave.
so i challenged him to a 6 probe vs 6 probe battle and the winner would stay and the loser would leave.
he won so i left :/

That is a pretty awesome story.
Regarding you saying this:
"great, try and do this once the game is patched" and then leave.
That is another kind of stuff I don't really like. I mean, you are right you are not insulting teir family but you are insulting their skill(regardless of what you feel about certain strategy). I mean I have been accused of being a 1A Zerg/terran/Protoss player. That may not mean too much for someone good, but for someone terrible like me who is trying to improve it puts into doubt your whole improvement.
I mean, its not like I listen to them, but combine that with all the whining about IMBA you always get that lingering sentiment of "Am I improving? or am I just abusing some hard strategy?"
Anyways, thats my 2 cents

From my point of view, sometimes you play a lot of games and it's hard to maintain a polite gl/hf -> gg mindset. Once you make it to the higher leagues you can pretty much assume everyone plays a fair amount of games, which means they are less likely to have a nice chat with their opponent every game.
While I never trash talk after losing, I will often leave without saying gg. This is never meant as a straight up insult to whomever I'm playing, but sometimes I'm just too frustrated to keep up the polite chatter.

I BM when I get cheesed/allin. I don't harrras them after game, but I get really mad when I lose to something cheap like that. Am I bm? :O
|
That is just the personality of some people. I've been bmed by players from gold as well as diamond league. It all depends on the person on the other side of the screen, and we just can't change people's attitudes. I just ignore those who call those names, because you don't even who they are and vice-versa, so whatever they say to you, it shouldn't affect you .

Online games will always be plagued with keyboard warriors; just get over it - this isn't some super gentleman like game where we should shake hands, congratulate each other or send each other flowers upon victory etc. Get over it - have the self esteem to not give a shit. If someone leaves without "gg" - do you even notice? If you do; then you seriously need to relax.
Omg he cannon rushed me what a dick! .. or Omg i just lost to a cannon rush wtf - i need practice.
Good manners is a common courtesy in day to day life - yet there are still scum of the world that treat people like shit. Now add the internet dynamic where there are very rarely any consequences for being rude - and voila you get bad manners..
At the end of the day - who really cares?

It seems to be pretty good at the higher level of EU, but not me. I BM like a crazy. I get so freaking pissed when I lose and I let my opponents know im pissed.
Hell I even yell about imbalance in mirror MUs.
To be fair, I come from HON, where the first thing you said wasnt "gl hf", but "Retard you dont go boots first!".
However what I dont get is the players who responce BM when they are winning. If im winning and someone says everything is imba and im a noob I will not tell him he sucks. I will just let him go at it and even tell him he's right. What the hell do I care, I just won. If it makes him feel better to rage a little let him have it.

One of the single stupidest community memes ever "bad manner". Stop being such a pussy and deal with the shit talk, it is a part of any game. Stop saying BM, take the earmuffs off your virgin ears, and deal with the scary bad words. It isn't a big fucking controversy when players don't "gg", half the fun of playing any game is shit talking and anyone who takes internet shit talk seriously needs to get over themselves.

Lawl. I'm pretty sure that most people here disagree that shit talking is the fun part of any game. Also, I don't think it's that people take it seriously and get upset, it's just that it's annoying when all of your opponents spew insults for the majority of any game. I don't want to hear it, I just want to play.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with leaving the game without saying gg, and this is not a "bm". If the other party feels that the game wasn't up to the par, that's perfectly fine. Look, don't be emo about such things. Who cares if they say gg or not? Just move on to the next game, simple as that. If that is discouraging you from playing games, then well.. you are the one with problems.
