So for this game we will be removing the PV and adding in the role of vigilante in its place. We have also decided to leave the traitor role in since it encourages a higher level of play and doesn't add in as much confusion. The goal is still strait forward from a town perspective, kill anyone displaying anti town sentiments and there is no drawback from killing the traitor or targeting him with checks.

Obviously any observers won't have access to that information, and won't really be able to give good advice. I think either PMs or the bootcamp need to be dropped. to my knowledge, pms will be in bootcamp games to begin with. Pm's add an element to the game that makes people (imo) better if they learn to use them.

Yes. On November 18 2010 08:43 Coagulation wrote: i cant stress enough how frustrating a game without PM's is for town. Yes. PMs are a double edged sword. Either they lead the town to do stupid things that makes people not learn, or it is a tool from heaven that allows you to analyze efficiently. Especially when there is a lot of spam in the thread, PMs are crucial for you to get good information. Seems like a growing number of people are despising PMs. I'm not sure the reasons behind this are warranted. PMs are more crucial now than ever because of the amount of spam present. There are two main things I would like to see in this game. 1. Less spam. Townies need to learn that they DON'T have to respond to every single post. You do not need to argue back and forth on the same points for pages. This makes other people not want to play the game and makes people stressed if they truly want to play seriously. It also eats up people's time and isn't productive for the town. Town needs time to reflect, digest, and have their ideas heard. Its bad if they have to frantically keep up with the thread/hear the same arguments over and over. 2. Focus on behavior analysis! Yes plans can be good. But they are often unreliable. Especially with semi-open games. The big example here would be TL Mafia XXX. Too much focus on plans means not enough focus on weeding out scum. Again, there is this (false) notion that there is nothing to analyze day 1 and that the day 1 lynch should be a random/inactive because there is no information. This is often not the case. Town needs to be dedicated to lynching red. That is how you win games. 1) create the atmosphere to catch scum by not spamming and forcing the mafia to react to the town, and 2) not deviating from the task of scumhunting and allowing scum to manipulate the game. As for analysts PMing RoL, why don't we just post here. Easier to have an open list imo. /analyst

In a PM from Ver he said as an analyzer he doesn't think PM's make it much harder to analyze from his angle. That is the biggest concern I had regarding it, since I think it makes the mafia have to play less recklessly, yet more aggressively which requires more skill. So PMing is in.

Ver is cute. Unless this game starts after Thanksgiving break I won't be able to work magicks (analyze). And if it is after I guess I have a week or so before finals start owning me in the butt.

I also wasn't planning on hiding the list of analyzers, I just requested they PM me so that I don't miss a post or something. Plus if they want any extra information to help them analyze I would obviously want that PMed to me. PMing actually makes it easier to analyze the game because people can follow up on leads more easily. By the way incog, I think you meant that you don't want to see spam, not that you want to see spam.
