I mean, its nice to get the word out there in the "legitimate" business world, but I was really expecting some actual writing, not just a stating of facts. Economist articles are often pretty short. There's a longer blog post that expands on the original article here: http://www.economist.com/blogs/babbage/2010/10/professional_gaming

Updated Rules: - 4v4 game (ZTP+1(R-P)) - Players must announce one unit they are going to build. - Zerg cannot use Queens. - Protoss must use Carriers, and not expand before having one out. - Terran may not use Marines, Marauders, or Siege tanks. - The race doubled up on cannot use the same unit. (And therefore must be Terran or Zerg.) - Enemies must be killed in alphabetical order while attacking. (If this one makes victory impossible, might be worth swapping to 'buildings must be destroyed in alphabetical order of player name' thing so that 3 players cannot turtle around one person's base with units that cannot be attacked.) I imagine the required skill of players to actually pull this off would be fairly high, but it seems like a replay containing that much nerd-joy would surely show up on a Monday Funday cast, so people involved would be rewarded with e-fame upon completion.

I suggested this earlier and would be totally down for trying if I ever get around to being on Battle.net in the next week/this weekend, but would anyone be interested in gathering a team (I'd love to see it done even if I cannot be involved.) to do an 'all of the above' challenge daily? I played a game for the original team monobattle funday that followed every rule, which was only 4 at the time (no queens, carrier rush, no MMT, monobattle) and it was a pretty sweet game. We followed the fifth rule sorta by default because our two terrans picked different units, so the only part of it not covered was alphabetical order (although it was pretty one-sided so that wouldn't have affected much.)

I thought just a few weeks back day[9] was ranting about how toss players build a robo, and an observer, and that's their observer for the game, and that he and HuK thought players should get like, 3 or 4. Then on tuesday he's saying he hates the observer out of the quick robo bay. With the early expand (the tuesday game) you are "fairly" vulnerable to early timing pushes (4gate, colossus, ...). So every bit of advantage (earlier Immortal, earlier 2nd Immortal, 1 more sentry) you can get you should take. Especially since the observer scouted the same thing a normal probe could scout aswell (no expansion, alsmost no sentries). Sure - in the later stages of the game get more observers. Or if you scout for somethign specific (JP stated scouting for hydraden or spire which would determine his own techpath).

ya that was weird lol You watch day 9 and try to be a good protoss so your not going to rush the big tasty colossus but instead you first go observer, and then next week you get bashed lol well guess there alot of nuances and both situations are probably different but to me as a rather new player it did make a weird impression love the show and his casting btw
