I do the SC Center Daily. I use Camtasia to do the editing there - problem is, Camtasia sucks. But the even bigger problem is that the free trial just ran out and I'm not spending $299 on that shitty program!
So, what video editing software can you guys recommend? I can spend a bit but not hundreds. If I do spend, I'd like to test it out.
If it's freeware, great. Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance!
(as soon as I decide on a new program, I will have the latest SC Center episode out)

If you got a mac, def download Final Cut Pro, or if you want to support them buy Final Cut Lite
also what types of things do you need from your editing program?

Well, it depends. Adobe is 'OK', and it does have a lot of nifty stuff associated with it, but as a original montage and film maker for video games, I personally found sony vegas to be the best video editing software, and you dont even need to get the latest and greatest, heck even sony vegas 7.0 (Which is about 70 bucks compared to vegas 9 at 600) has a lot of advanced stuff you can do along with countless tutorials (honestly, only thing different between 7 and 9 is GUI and some additional though not required features).
But of course it really does depend on what exactly you want to do. If its just importing recorded film with audio overlay, you could just get away with using windows movie maker (free). Just dont expect any of the fancy additional stuff that other video editing software has

Excuse me, but Teamliquid.net does not endorse nor approve of any form of "pirating" and such information is best left out from the public view.

sony vegas, it's simple to learn and pretty powerful. Not as powerful as premier but enough for almost everything.

It's not pirating, there are legitimate copies of the trial on that website. The fact you assume i'm telling him to get an illegal copy of the program is absurd, i'd never pirate in my life.

Without pirating, you won't find a single decent video editor for cheap. Just saying.

Try Pinnacle Video Spin, I believe you can use that for free for a time, its not very powerful but it could get the job done

I use Sony Vegas Pro 9 and it's great.

Like many others said, I definitely recommend Final Cut Pro if you have a mac (find a way to get one for free...) or Sony Vegas Pro 9 which I have for windows (which you can definitely get for free.... easy to get too.......).
But that's all I can say, you gotta really try out different editing programs and see what works for you. Good luck!

I think Sony Vegas has 4 versions of its software and you can have a 1 month free trial with each version
