Since this is more or less going to a complain session you can probably guess that I am not a terran user. That being said let me just get off my chest my gripes and complaints about the current situation. Terran: I swear to god if there was a definition of imba or an example of not being good to win terran is it.
Lets start with their Marauders, of all the patches the only thing that directly effected these guys were the concussive shell upgrade that turned into a measly 50/50 min upgrade. Which you can't really notice early game and is an easy way to dump a few minerals no matter what strategy or tech your planning to go. That change really made no sense to me. The main thing I was seeing problems with was how available marauders are to mass. Marauders can dominate almost any gateway unit minus the zealot but with handful of marines to take down the zealots they once again rise to the top of the imba food chain. I always thought that they should cost 50 gas instead of 25. They already crush stalkers, with stim they crush zeals, with the shells they just shit all over your face. The only saving grace is a sentry which is nice but for 100 gas.. good fucking lord. Because of the cost of Marauders, losing a handful here and there doesn't effect their economy nearly as much as losing a handful of stalkers. I just wish blizzard would see this and change the cost. Blizzard should have made it so if your choosing to mass marauders or marauders/marines it should suck up enough minerals for it to be a solid tech choice and not leave a gaping hole for more options. Right now terran has so many choices they can tech to early game that it gets sickening.
The mother fucking ghost. These cock sucker isn't quite as bad as people make it out to be but everyone needs to look at the big picture. Terran are crushing protoss without the use of the ghost. Just wait until terran start to incorporate the ghost more often. The ghost is the legitimate protoss killer. I have no idea why emp is not an upgrade, its beyond me. I don't have a problem at what emp does as much as i have a problem with how easy it is to obtain. As protoss we are struggling to find ways to deal with this and we are bending over backwards for it. The terran don't have to adjust much at all. All they have to do is dodge a storm that takes 4 seconds to fully do damage.
I always thought if a terran went ghosts it should impact their tech patch to the point where they can't just mass whatever they wanted after it. If they were going ghosts, they wouldn't be able to mass so many marauders and so on... It just pisses me off. The amount of options terran has is stupid. I feel like you have to be 10 notches above a terran players skill level to be able to win. After a few more months when people really start to get hardcore with terran they are going to shred people up even more than they already do.
The sentry tower.. how fucking lazy do terran players have to be nowa days? This goddamn thing gives a detectable area that covers almost 1/4 of any map. Are you kidding me? If they place two down, thats half of the map. The rang that this thing has is just ridiculous. Terran already dont have to scout too much due to scan and now they get sensory towers? How about the next upgrade for it is a bag of chips so they have something to munch on while they sit on their asses some more.
Mules... Once again lazy man's ace in the hole. Whats this? harassment of the workers becoming pointless? SWEET! If you have a terran locked down and they have a cc in the middle of no where or were able to sneak one somewhere they can just call down a few mules which will already be stronger than your economy. They dont even need to worry about sending workers right away. It just makes me sick how lazy terran players can really be. Terran is the fat boys race.
Now with this new patch they nerf tanks, hmm I can see this but the only problem was the smart shot they had, they only shot enough to kill their target unlike BW. I like it. The reapers.. ehhh.. im not zerg so i can feel the pain but i didnt care. Im good at stopping proxy reapers already so i was ok with it. Why dont they get rid of the stupid ass mother ship.. what a pointless unit. Leave that damn thing for custom games with your friends. It is a weak replacement for the arbitor and im surprised nothing has been done about it yet. Ever see high level play with gosu use of the mothership? Me neither.
Now then after this small bitch session I understand how terran and TERRANS ONLY are saying to just learn protoss and zerg units better and overcome adversity with skill. There are ways to deal with a lot of the imba but even if you spread your units well enough so emp doesnt hit them all your still having to do extra steps that a terran player doesnt. Zerg and protoss needs to work overtime vs terran just to stay in the loop. It just frustrates me. Am I the only person who sees this?

Guess you just got owned by Maurader + Ghost, and when you tried to something funky, you got scouted by the tower, but still managed to do a bit a of dmg that got compensated by a mule

This isn't from an individual game i'm just starting from all the replays I watch and downloaded. Just common occurrences. Sure I have been owned by marauders but im talking about the entire picture here...

well simply put terran is a finished race. and as SC 2 stands now. both protoss and zerg are not finished something is just missing from the two races. whether blizz has decided to wait until expansions. or they are just blinded by their fancy jet pack infantry and transformers and gundams.
eventually things will balence out but as it is now. its a finished race demolishing unfinished races.

On a more serious note i have been bitching about the terrans lately too ( especially after the IEM disaster for Aiur ). However after the recent performances of Huk / Socke / kiwikaki in MLG and the large number of protoss in the gsl i still have some fayth.
I don't really think that the MLG results really matter because imo Huk / Socke / kiwikaki are just way better players than the terrans in this tournament. ( There were no real top terrans. I mean LS / Qxc / Cauthonluck are good but not on the same level than Morrow / DeMuslim and all the top European terrans ), but the Gsl thing is really interesting. I can't wait to see how all those crazy Koreans will play PvT. If all the Protoss are utterly stomped in this tourney ( basicly the biggest tourney so far ) i guess we will be allowed to say that the game is broken.

Although i have to add that I find terrans consistently beatable as long as my opponent is in gold league or below. Why did I play gold-leaguers? because I was playing on another account showing the account owner how to ZvT. Sometimes I lose to protoss though when playing on it, because of poor reactions... which is saddening.
Sentry towers + planetary fortress is kind of retarded too...
yeah.. and also getting told by gold level terrans to L2P in a well-though-out post is actually really annoying, especially when they offer zero insights and no real knowledge on TvZ.

If you think marauders and ghosts are bad, wait until you start running into mass banshee in addition to everything else terran can do. I played a game where the terran contained me with bunkers, tanks, marauders, and mass turrets while harassing me with banshees. After I finally managed to break out with immortals and pretty much perfect storms, I realized all 3 of my obs died to the random turrets spread throughout the contain as I was trying to get them to spot the banshees.

I played a game where Terran tried to do a fast banshee, got stopped dead by fast mutas. I then killed the majority of his scvs with a well-placed baneling drop. Saw him getting Thors, so got a good deal of roaches to deny his natural for a bit, but lost my 5 mutas which were used to kill off scvs making his new CC, which was an okay trade considering my economic lead to deny his expand.
But then Terran remembered that he left 2 banshees in the corner of the map (I assumed he just rallied them there for quick access should the initial banshee attack be successful). At that point, he had long already switched his starport tech lab for a reactor so that was the last thing I expected. I had no gas when he attacked my spire, because I was too careful in maintaining macro, and the two banshees single-handedly swung the game back in terran hands.
It was kind of ridiculous, and this shows just how easy it is to lose against terran even if you are so "ahead".

I never had problems PvT. My pain only started when I switched to Zerg.

Sick of people responding to threads saying 'got owned on ladder huh?' or 'L2P' when while this is a whine thread, there's a lot of truth to it. Adding to the thread with my own rant.
Things are too easy for terran (mule, planetary fortress, scans, sensor tower). While these abilities arent necessarily imba, they make it way too easy for terran compared to other races at lower levels.
Terran is too fucking versatile. Terran can build anything they want and switch addons too easily. Too many viable unit compositions and openings. Tech barely even exist for terran. They can build a raven like 6 minutes into the game, wtf? You wouldnt tell a zerg to do a quick broodlord build would you? Zerg has to actually tech, and protoss is sort of in between the two with branch tech (choosing one path temporarily closes the other paths).
Not really a problem, but an issue I have with terran is that they have too many upgrades. Granted, some of these abilities are kind of useless (like bunker capacity). Similar to the point OP made about ghosts, as the game gets more developed people will find more uses for upgrades like building armor, building range, durable materials. Right now it feels like a bunch of these upgrades and abilities can be removed and the game would still be balanced. Terran is already strong, wait till people know when to use all these upgrades and things like hunter seeker missiles and snipe.

Protoss is like Rocky Balboa, we take a beating the entire time and luckily, we can squeeze off some wins. Once we win we slur our words and wonder how the F that just happened.

no doubt the balance of vanilla starcraft before the first balance patch was much worse than that of sc2. the balance isn't THAT bad seeing there hasnt been a balance patch yet right? but yes, as a protoss player i do feel terrans are imba. i think their units need to be less powerfull to make up for their great versatility.

immortal/zealot rapes marauders. 3 gate robo all ins obliterate infantry. Ghosts cost 150 gas and EMP energy takes forever to save, and protoss shields recharge very quickly. Protoss has a myriad of builds to catch terran off guard and gain an early advantage. Mules are OP? Chrono boost your nexus. Sensor towers are plainly visible on the minimap so it's not like you don't know you're walking into one. You have a mobile invisible unit that roams the map scouting anything it wants.
Stop acting like you're losing because the game's broken. You're losing because you aren't as good as your opponents at starcraft. If you want to Q.Q about inbalance start a TvZ thread. PvT is perfectly balanced.

I watched the first two games of socke vs drewbie.
The first is Socke goign for an 'oh god I hope he doesn't kill me before I get this out!' build. BO poker basically, as the 4 rax marauders only juuuuuuuuuuust countered the fast colosi. Even then, there's not the most you can dow ith a fast colosi against prepared terran players. Siege tanks outrange them, he might have a starpot ready for some vikings and you can slap up some bunkers and keep repairing them until you can get a real answer in place. I don't like the fast colosi opening Socke used in that game.
Seccond is Drewbie going for an economic cheese (1 rax fe SHOULD NEVER WORK against ultra aggressive toss builds. 4 warpgate all-in? Proxy stargate? fast immortal push that no-one admittedly does anymore? Whatever!) and then squandering his huge advantage in one of the most retarded moves I've seen in quite a while. Seriously. Wow. He deserved to lose that game. After that display of pure horror I quit the MLG youtube videos from HDstarcraft and watched some Morrow games. His tank usage is so sublime, it hurts me deep inside to know that we cannot do that come 1.1
tl:dr, tvp is balanced suckas. Improve!
