After going almost a month without encountering hardly any cheese, the last few days have been ridiculous. Is "cheesing" all the rage now? Why don't I know about this?
I went from losing 1 in every 4 games to losing 3 in every 4 games. It completely tilts me. I could live with the proxy-inbase-gateways, BBS and even 5 pool's in BW but this is just ridiculous.
I miss the long macro games, the beauty of a 40 minute game. Why is it all about winning in the easiest way possible now?
Please, if you encounter me on ladder, please fast expand.

A spinecrawler at creep edge can't hit a hatch? Really?! This will make me life a bit easier. Though I rarely lose to 6 pool since I normally 13 pool l2p!!! :D
Every T 5 rax reapers now so get used to it.

I feel your pain. Lately: edit: ZvZ LT. I take the risk and FE. He 10 pools me. Yes 10 pool. And still wins, because of my delayed pool. Though it took him 18minutes to finish me. He got his gas @ 35 supply. (He was plat, I am a Gold Level Player.)

currently I'm on a five game losing streak after encountering... you guessed it, five cheeses in a row. Went something like; 6pool, 4gate, mass reaper, 7pool and marine rush.

C'est la vie. Cheese is part of the game, I mean look how Morrow played vs. Idra in his games. 5 Rax reaper in almost every game! Tell me that's not cheese.

Cheese means it relies on the opponent not scouting it. Idra knew about it every game and morrow still did fine. It's clearly not cheese, its just hard to stop and irritating to deal with. They're not the same thing.

I noticed no toss cheese there, keep it classy protosses

Sadly, cheese is rampant from the bottom of bronze to the top of diamond. It's surprising how many baneling-busters and 7-rax proxiers are 500+ diamond.
The way I see it, though, is that it's good to learn how to hold off cheeses in ladder rather than a tournament or obs game. Plus, once you know how to hold off most cheeses, you get a lot of free wins.

yeah dude "cheesey" strategies are running rampant right now. however the good news is if you can survive it and it does go in to the late game you're going to be more prepared than those who only have one play style in their arsenal. I was struggling so bad with the Korean 4gate pylon in base shit but finally I've started to battle against it and punish them through out the game. I don't see cheese as much now in the 600+ diamond players but I definitely had my fair share of cheesetactular games lol. Hang in there dude.

+1 to all these threads. FFS i want a game that goes late game....People usualy act like retards, i scout their cheese, i win mid game. Lol FFS.

Hard to describe a lot of this as cheese, just early pressure, I guess we all have to learn to adapt. Only really tactics like Cannon rushing are true cheese, everything else is just an application of early pressure.

I've been seeing more and more cheese lately as well, I can only assume the cheddar concentration is higher at leagues below diamond; it's just more effective against scrubs like us who don't have flawless mechanics. It's been so bad as of late, that I faced 5 different protoss opponents in a row, all of whom 2gated my natural.
I don't always lose to cheese, nor do I always defend it. I don't feel any righteous nerd rage after losing to it, and it's incredibly easy to watch the replay and pick out exactly what went wrong. The difficult part for me is actually figuring out how to get rid of the problem in the "crisis" situation that cheese can put you in. (Basically, how to adjust your gameplay when you're forced to change that build order you practiced all last week in the first minute or two of the game.)
My biggest problem is that constant cheese makes it incredibly difficult to judge my improvement progress, especially when most of my opponents leave if the cheese is defended. It also makes for an incredibly dull grind to face nothing but 6 pool, 2 gate proxy, or cannon rush all day. I haven't laddered much lately simply because I don't feel like I'm effectively using my time.
The same problem ran rampant through the WC3 ladders when the game was first released, chances were that if opponent = Orc, then enemy towers happen in or around your base. I'm going to guess that the problem will gradually subside as players who bought this game because of hype quit playing.
Anybody have any useful tips for keeping determination up while wading through the sea of cheddar that is the current state of the ladder? Maybe someone who feels they have overcome the velveeta hurdle has some sage advice to impart? (I'm pretty sure everybody knows to "Scout more/better")
I went on longer than I thought I would, sorry for attacking your blog with a giant wall of text Disco.

I always get warm inside when I get matched with a protoss..

I found a 890 diamond-rated cannon rusher today... Seems you can go far without passing tier 1.

the 2nd picture just looks like a Bamboo rush to me. lol that one is a rush not cheese xD Although I'd imagine it would be much harder to see coming in sc2... hmm... food for thought... bring Bamboo back ^^ (yeah yeah Gundam to everybody who has no clue who the hell Bamboo was -.-)

I've played three games so far today, the first was TvP where a guy built 3 gates in my main. I kill the only pylon powering it, only to have a second probe (I killed the first) build three more and I lost.
Game two, I get reaper rushed and defend easily, but fall behind as he expands and goes mass air.
Game three, another defended reaper rush, but I actually win this time.
I'm just hoping it was because it was 4 AM and not a trend or anything (bad case of insomnia lol).
