Diablo 1 had the best atmosphere to creep you out. I mean seriously the little details they put in the game scared the shit out of me when I was younger and the music still sends chills down my spine. I really hope D3 sticks to what they had going on in d1 and d2

That's a good point. I have noticed that Diablo 3 has so far not featured any "creepy" arts. I am thinking they may have abandoned this route which may repel some sensitive players.
Back in Diablo 1 it was a common practice to turn off the music to stop lag in multiplayer games, mostly because it ran off CD and would make the game stop every now and then as your 2x cdrom would seek.
I felt almost fortunate that this was normal because playing Diablo 1 with the sound on scared the shit out of me as a kid
I played D2 when I was like 12 and thought that it was crazy. Facing the first boss Andariel (?) was absolutely too much for a young pup. Theres a reason games have an esrb rating (that no one pays attention too). Great game tho, wasted much of my time on it.

Heh, yeah, me too. Never got creeped out by those things, just thought of them as nice details.
Nice to see some diablo I screen shots. That game was so good back then.
Lmao. Its Diablo, thats why diablo 3 had hella controversy, its not as creepy.

Those lines will never be forgotten. With the combination of it being scary as shit, and being a bitch to kill, I delayed killing the butcher for the first time until I got to the caves. (In Diablo 1).
Diablo 2 didn't really effect me like that. It was hard and I really didn't know how to play (1 in every skill FTW!). But there wasn't the fear in the back of my mind stopping me.
Yea I think everyone remembers how badass meeting the butcher for the first time was, can't think of a single more "OH FUCK I'M GOING TO DIE" moment in any game
OP, you missed all the people torn in half on the racks in the the Jail in Act 1, and the people in cooking pots in the Flayer Village where you find the Gidbinn.
The game scared the crap out of me when I was like, 10. Now I'm only scared when I think I've cleared a room and then something suddenly hits me. Makes me jump.

Unfortunately, Blizzard will most likely cater to the casual crowd and not the people who played Diablo since its inception. There might be some demons but they will most likely tone down the gore and creepy stuff to not scare the wimps of the world who are used to World of Warcraft. I sure hope it is a creepy game though, i am just not getting my hopes get above knee high.
