Like a long velvet carpet the days of our universe unfold off the spool of the galaxy and ends at our tippy toes. I'm not sure how long my carpet it is, or how long yours is, but it feels good under my feet. I feel like I merely must walk down the path to become the things I am to become.
I invite you to do something different with me today, spontaneous or planned, definitely intentional.
Do something just a little different today.
Let's remember how much the day belongs to you and your whims and joys
. big or small. medium size is good too. Perhaps saying hello and making some talk with a neighbour you dont usually, or even just going for a very slow walk, with no destination, with no headphones and no cell phones. Nice and slow, with no rush to get anywhere.
I did my toast this morning peanut butter on one side and jelly on the other. 2 sided toast is just the beginning. The days only exist as a block of wood to carve your impressions upon. If you do nothing, or only rely and relax into old habits, maybe the block of wood stays just the same.
My two sided toast changed my wood block

Make plan or don't, but come back and share the one thing you did different.

I started playing the guitar a few days ago. I was just sitting there playing chords while watching Day9's launch party stream... Every day i always play some, with or without electronic entertainment. My roommate is so nice, she's actually gonna give me her guitar that I've been playing. She doesn't play but just has it so she wanted it to go to good use. =)

i used to dog down strangers who looked at me on the street. not out of maliciousness, but out of habit. I'm trying to say "howdy" instead. Its hard to not crack a smile when a stranger greets you with "howdy"

If you have any major problems I can give you a few tips - I'm a guitar teacher as part of my livelihood

I'm going to steal this as my own! I think it would lighten up my neighborhood quite a bit , especially since most people around here are about my age. Maybe I'll substitute a "how d'yo do?" It's such a non confrontational phrase one has to be delighted to hear it ^

Lol at the howdy thing, when I went to visit Texas A&M, every last person said howdy, and I just wanted to laugh, I can't bring myself to greet someone with "howdy", and I'm a Texan!

I was about to do something rash involving a girl. Thankfully, I remembered TL advice is usually bad, especially regarding women.
In the spirit of this thread, I drank tea instead of coffee. It was pretty good!

Just in case anyone is following the "I play guitar" story arc.... + Show Spoiler +---------------------------------- Original Message: Caldo149 Hey thanks for offering tips! First thing, how do you smoothly transition between chords? Quick fingering changes? like going from A to D or something (a nice little I to IV action) because it always takes me like a second to switch fingerings and in that time it sounds bleh.
I was also wondering hw on earth you do bar chords!! My friend can do it but it's so hard for me to keep all the strings down with my index finger while also pressing down 3 other strings =/ Even though technically I know you really only need to press down 3 strings with the index I just don't see how it's humanly possible to do it consistently.
I have a feeling I just need more practice... ^^;
Ella:
Chord switching is the first hump where many people give up. First, get it in your noodle that you wont and shouldn't achieve everything you want by tomorrow. Like learning to do the splits or something, if you just jump down it's going to be a rude awakening. Patience.
Switching involves two things, rhythm and precision, work on these seperately, not together. Here's how-
A good way to practice the rhythm. Get a metronome (or even just count one two three four one two ...)
play your first chord on beat one, then switch and no matter where your fingers are , strum again the new chord on beat one. The trick here is to play even if you think it's going to sound ugly. This teaches your left hand that it can't just take all it's sweet time.
Then, the precision
Tempo and rhythm is of no issue here. Take a lot of time, and mentally map how each finger is going to move. Look for common notes or string shifts. By that I mean....
Your ring finger on the A chord is on the same string as it will need to be for the D. This is golden! You must not stop touching the string with this finger, it's your guide. That one will slide up just a little bit, allowing you to focus on the other two.
You do these to 'drills' separately. slowly you up the tempo for the rhythm practice. Then, in a few days / week you will realize you are doing the changes in tempo, and your chords are clear and shimmering everytime.
Barre chords are later ^ _^
@ travis. Hah ye you still get points. You have to come back and post it though for full creds.
Inspired by Chill - I got arizona raspberry tea instead of the green. hahha I'm happy for this

I have cooked for every day of the week. Something I had never done much before. I am always following recipes, mostly from vahchef (youtube), because I love Indian dishes. On top of that, I have offered to shared my plates with my co-workers (when the dish turns out good or not too spicy), so to introduce them to new kinds of food.
I live in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, and we have ZERO Indian restaurants in town. ...such a shame.

I hope bisu will listen and follow to do something different too

I ran 40 mins straight instead of taking my normal 5 minute break half way through. It felt good.

For chord switching just play a lot of random, easy arrangements of acoustic songs where all you do is strum and maybe sing along. Usually you'll encounter the same few chords over and over (C G Am F D A Em blah blah) so it becomes muscle memory quite quickly. Least that's how I did it.
As for something different I did today, I went outside! Ba-dum-psh.
I plan to sleep before 3am tonight. It's not technically today but whatever.

I played chess with this guy who hangs in the market. I never did before because I thought he would shatter me.
He did. He gave me a few ideas and it was a great time. Then we bonded over the Wu and the mysteries of chessboxin.
God damn the world is a kind place if you let it be

Didn't drink today, and I have half a bottle of wine in a cooler.
I love Wu Tang omg
Did you just walk up to that guy without knowing him? Does he always play chess there or something?

Yea he's like the ghost of the market. Sometimes he's there, sometimes he's not. He just sits and waits for people to play, really chill guy. He told me about how he hasnt drank or smoked in 5 years and he feels young again (he's probs about 30?) .
I brought the ruckus as hard as I could.
