I've hardly asked the TL community as a whole for help, but right now, TL is the only place I can depend on for this.
I'm doing this shitty thing called "Project Work" for my A levels, and I've gotten totally brainblocked. The deadline for submission is in 5 hours' time, so I really need to quickly think of an idea.
Basically, I have to think of a case-study of where 1) any form of amalgamation/merger has taken place and apply it to my local (Singapore) context or 2) think of an alternative solution to anything (beyond reasonable parameters that is) and apply it to local context as well, like how to use the ideas to take related problems in Singapore.
Problems Singapore is facing:
- Land shortage
- Lack of natural resources
- Over-dependency on foreign workers
- Too many factors that will result in loss of huge economic potential/portion of current economy if removed
For 1), it'd be something like google + youtube = better advertising/outreach to general masses -> apply to Singapore. Just that it's already been used, so I can't use it anymore.
Really need your help on this one guys. Any suggestion will fully be taken into consideration and appreciated!!
Uh I'll give you a shoutout during Proleague in June, as I will be going Korea. so yeah, help please :<
Edit: I'm also asking my friends around for help, so once I've gotten any idea from any side, I'll request this thread to be closed.
Edit edit: If the idea is already in implementation in Singapore, it can't be used. I'll respond to every single idea, so just continue to help me with the ideas! Thanks so much!

Wishing you good luck nonetheless! what I'm looking for is any real-life examples/case studies of the 2 things I mentioned happening (amalgamation or alternative approaches to something), then elaborating on why it's useful and how we can use that idea in local context (Singapore).

Maybe Activision + Bungie dunno,
Edit: Problem: Public waste (trash), pollution and lack of environmental-friendliness:
Plastic bags that you get at the grocery store/ supermarket / whatever are serious polluters and get everywhere, they also do not bio-degrade, making them great trash items that get blown around, torn, eaten by birds and make everything dirty/ ugly.
Solution:sImpose governmental tax/ tariff on imported plastic bags and get some sat (insert Singapore thingy here) to back it by wearing some fashion-statement made of torn plastic bags.
Hope that's original enough. If I have any more ideas I'll re-edit GL HF

Forgot to mention that if it's already existent in singapore it can't be used
thanks for the idea though!!

because i had to repeat a year and had to wait for results + thinking of whether i should re-take it or not. urgh, partially (ok mostly) my fault for starting this late.

OH :S
A think a good idea would be a section 2, where you 'make' (draw and talk about) some nifty/ useful invention that makes life simpler/ easier and promotes ecology/ sustainability/ eco-friendliness (I find these themes are well accepted by academia).
Maybe something that helps recycle/ reuse water or a type of paddle that you stick on the back of your boat and by only moving it left and right you propel the boat...
Find a solution to a problem, so what domestic problems are there in Singapore that you could solve?

Hmm yeah I think if I focus on that issue more, it'll be easier for me to talk and for the guys marking my paper to be pleased. Keeping this in mind.
Singapore's problems: Land shortage Lack of natural resources (mostly these two, will add more if I can think of any)

have to define the pros/cons, then evaluate the idea and find an (for this) alternative solution that will still get the cash flowing in for the government. but i'll keep this idea in mind, might be able to apply to some other idea.

uhm... centralise the distribution of land and forbid private ownership of land, or invade the nearest country for land and resources? i mean singapore already has a land reclamation project going on right, other than that i don really see how else u can solve the problem of land and resource shortages.
actually this is what i can come up with in a fly. maybe i'll add some input later if i can come up with anything...

problem is that forbidding private ownership will result in a lot of potential foreign investors (rich ppl who like their own houses, not sharing it) being turned away - a key group singapore cannot afford to lose. centralised distribution of land has long been in place, and land reclamation is rather slow and expensive.
thanks though, all these is at least giving me some directions.
