Day 19! I have no idea what I'll put on tonight, but lets hope you guys like it!
1. Black Milk - Tronic What? Hip hop When? 2008 Why? One of the hottest young producers in hip hop, he's not bad on a mic either. Show me! + Show Spoiler +
2. A Dvorak - Cello Concerto in B Minor What? Classical When? 1895 Why? Such an amazing piece. Soothing, passionate, intense, all without being boring. Show me! + Show Spoiler +
3. Damien Rice - O What? Singer-songwriter When? 2002 Why? First heard him on the Closer soundtrack. Stunning, romantic but very sad voice. Show me! + Show Spoiler +
4. The Hold Steady - Boys and Girls in America What? Indie rock When? 2005 Why? A strongly classic rock inspired indie band. This album has everything from hard rock riffs to power ballads. Show me! + Show Spoiler +
5. The Meads of Asphodel - The Excommunication of Christ What? Experimental black metal When? 2001 Why? The strangest black metal album you are ever likely to hear. Strongly inspired by Hawkwind, this album is almost designed to annoy purists. Show me! + Show Spoiler +
There we go, another five albums down. I like the mix today, everything is just a touch different from my normal eclectic posts. Let me know what you like and what you don't!
Disclaimer: The title says that it is Daigomi's guide to good listening. That means its my opinion. Feel free to disagree as long as you provide reasons; I enjoy a good discussion as much as the next person. Also, I just like listening to music, I don't give a shit for the political implications of any music.

Damien Rice's O is a great album. He came out with a new one a few years ago (2006 I think?). It's not quite at the same level, unfortunately :\
Dvorak is hit and miss for me...edit...oh nvm, I know this concerto. It's good shit. /edit
The Meads of Asphodel made me laugh out loud, lol.

Daigomi, I'm not as open minded as you are (more into metal and classical; less often blues and jazz), so I skip a lot of your recommendations. Not saying they aren't good, as I might like if I actually listened, but it's just that I'm not that interested.
that cello concerto is awesome... I always try to picture live performances when listening to classical.. I should read more theory stuff to comprehend the authors' hearts and pieces better.
Is your blog open for readers recommendations too? Or maybe I'll just have to make my own blog.. + Show Spoiler +http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLTeFab-c6A Evergrey is known as a progressive metal band with a lot of depressive stuff... this song sounds a little like power metal too. Anyway, this is one of my favorite vocalists. This guy's voice is perfect for sad songs. The female vocal is his wife (who gave him vocal lessons, btw) and a classical singer... too bad I can't find more info about her. Notice how his voice changes during the song... it's so good. The instrumental parts adds quality. Great feeling. To me, what makes this band unique are the vocals and guitar riffs. Btw, nice job on your post "missing the point". The SC2 Coverage team rocks

Cell concerto sounds nice too, dont have time for the other stuff cause I'm tired as fuck I really need to do these guides at better times, my starting time for them currently is like 01:00 AM, mostly because I have a deadline that I'm working towards and this is when i finish work. Still, I'll try to do them at a slightly better time!

The Meads of Asphodel made me laugh out loud, lol. I have a few EPs and things from Damien rice, but the only full length I have is O. It seems like the other album is called 9, but I haven't listened to it yet. Dvorak is also hit and miss for me, but like you say, that concerto is amazing from start to finish.

The SC2 Coverage team rocks I know what you're saying about just not being interested, I used to feel like that for a long time. In the end, I think it's worth it trying to expand your taste. There are few things I enjoy more than finding an amazing piece of music, and the more music I can appreciate, the better the chance of finding something amazing.
I can't remember if that youtube vid has the performance, but I absolutely love watching Jacqueline du Pre on the cello. She does an amazing Dvorak too, to boot.
I used to listen to Evergrey a lot, but I haven't really done that in the last few years (for no real reason). My favourite album has always been Recreation Day, it's got all the progressive elements you want, but it doesn't overdo it. Also, I love his voice
Thanks on the article comments, haha. It's a bit frustrating reading the replies every now and again when people "miss the point," but I feel like it achieved what I wanted it to, some constructive discussion on the topic.
