And to add something to the discussion, Sweden in general is indeed expensive, at least in some areas. Going out to eat is generally a lot more expensive, unless you just get fast food. There aren't a lot of restaurants where you can actually sit and have a meal for $10-15, it's pretty much McD or bust. Bigger cities generally have excellent public transit and in smaller cities you can generally just walk everywhere. Drinking in public is not illegal, it is sometimes restricted but it can't get you fined/put in jail so make sure you try drinking out. And don't let the pictures fool you, typical swedish food is generally really bad.

I was an exchange student in the states when I was 16-17 and back then it was clear that USA was much more advanced than Denmark. your TVs are better, your gadgets were more advanced and so on. It's hard to put my finger on what exactly it was, but it's just subtle little differences that builds a larger picture of USA as being more advanced. Things might have changed since I was there, but I doubt it. Something like TIVO or fridges with an ice machine are just not normal for people here to have, and there are a lot more examples like that.
It won't bother you at all, but you'll notice it.

Swedish females are Angels. I've been told, I went, I saw and I confirm. Sweden FTW. Definitely.

What.. You're a girl right? Swedish girls > Snus tbh.
OT: Too bad you missed the Swedish summer it's really something.. But this summer wasn't that great anyway, due to the poor weather. Rain in the summer ftl..
Are you planning on spending your Christmas here in Sweden? If so, get your ass over to Gothenburg (Göteborg) 'cause it's 'Swedens Christmas Town'. It's really pretty and the atmosphere is great. It's one of those things that you shouldn't be missing out on..
In conclusion, try to spend the most of your time in Stockholm, I think it's more fitting seeing that you're an U.S. citizen and all, and when Halloween is upon us, go back to the U.S. and celebrate it with your fellow Americans (I've always wanted to experienced an all American Halloween) and then you should come back to Sweden, but this time around try to visit Gothenburg instead of Stockholm so that you can experience a real Swedish Christmas™ there!
Cheers!
*EDIT* Haha I just realize that my sig doesn't quite match with the things I've just said.
+ Show Spoiler +Sweden sucks ;DDDD Try to go to Korea instead! ;;

I actually wanted to go to Korea, but my "friend" is a girl and she wants to go to Sweden, so ... yeah. I want to go to Sweden, too. I've always wanted to at least some part of Scandinavia.
A lot of people are saying that since I'm American, then I'll feel this way about this and so on, but I'm not American. I was born in a tiny country in South America and to be completely honest, I hate living in the States. I think I would adjust and adapt just fine to Swedish culture. If they want to bash America and drag me into political or religious discussions, that's fine. I'll probably agree with everything they say. I'm an atheist liberal, too, you know.
And of course some Swedes are going to say that Sweden sucks. Your home is not a special place to you because you've lived there all your life, of course you're going to find things you hate about it. Kinda pointless to tell them "Hey, man. Sweden does not suck" ... just my opinion. It's not like I'll take it to heart and abandon my plans completely.

Well said and Sweden is actually a nice place to live in, excellent medical care and insurance. All insurances is actually good. The night life is pretty good except for all the brawls and wannabe English hooligans roaming around. If your single and remotely handsome you can find your love for the night instantly, just wait until closing and the chicks will beg you to follow them home.
If you are into gaming and computers well Sweden offers both good internet connection and excellent computer prices, whole or in parts just choose your pick. Telephone deals are also good home or mobile, I also find it quite cheap to pay 8 dollars for 100/100mbit. But I'm used to it and it's standard now days.
Swedish food stores and food in general have nice quality and taste no matter what you buy Pizza in Sweden is actually quite cheap and nice not like in the US. Kebab is more of a tradition to eat nowdays. Try a "kebabtallrik" ( this is just overkill on everything but looks yummy Kebab! You can drink in public but Sweden has one retarded law that you need to be over 20 years old to buy liquor from a place called "Systembolaget" BUT you can drink your self drunk in a bar or restaurant when you are at the age of 18. Common in some places ^^
Sweden has also a lack of job opportunities and the system for finding job or to get some sort of help is quite broken. And it's worse now because of the financial crisis.
Snus is also a very nice addition to your life. Yummyumm I suggest you try this at home for the first time and be sure to have it under your lip for atleast 1h if your weak it wont be so much fun for you . Swedish people is often very good at English so communication wont be a problem at the start of an living here. Swedish classes can you find everywhere or just find a good friend to teach you. A good note also is that Swedish people in general is quite lazy, and a good part of the majority is chickens most rather type a letter or something if a neighbor is disturbing instead of knocking down their door and ask what the fuck your doing.
If you want to read up on some Swedish news you can head to Swedish news in English and just browse to your local area. Suburbs in Sweden is actually quite nice and pretty. To travel around Sweden is pretty safe and smooth, the buses are everywhere and they go from 5-15minutes all day and all night long.
Trains to every major city and suburb. The price for one or two ticket is HIGH but if you plan on living here or visit Sweden for a longer period of time I suggest you get a monthly card and you can travel whereever and how much you want in that area (Stockholm).

Sweden is definitely one of my top places to visit if I ever get out of student debt (fml).

Stockholm and Göteborg for sure (maybe some other places as well, not sure yet). There is no definite date, possibly during the Thanksgiving holiday since I also won't have to attend any classes the week after the holiday ends, so that gives me an extra week. I don't suppose there's any particular reason for going. I'm not happy with my life right now and I need a change of scenery, the person I'm going with is dead-set on visiting Sweden, and maybe I'll like Sweden enough to consider coming back and staying for a while in 2010.

Stalker.. cough.
Sounds fair, if I'm in Sweden (Gothenburg) then I'm sure we can get some TL/BW meet together.
