Two days ago I went to a party where there was a Wii and I played a bit of the new Punchout game. It was a pretty fun game that was surprisingly challenging. Every fighter had a different pattern you had to learn and most of them took me two or three tries to beat. After fiddling with it for 15 minutes, a friend of mine told me the Nes game was basically the same thing. So I downloaded the ROM, started playing, and sure enough its the same game. I've had a lot of fun playing against all the characters; Great Tiger, Bald Bull, Mr. Sandman, and Super Macho Man stood out as the most challenging and creative for me.
However none of the characters are anywhere near as evil and timing intensive as Mike Tyson. To the credit of the game designers, Mike Tyson would definitely be this ridiculous to take down in a real fight, as every punch he throws for the first 1 minute 30 seconds can knock you out. The thing is, there are no fancy ways to take him down unlike some of the other fighters, you just need perfect timing and execution, both of which I don't have.
But yeah, this game was surprisingly fun for an NES title. I love how something so simply can be so complex and difficult. One of these days I'm going to beat Iron Mike, but god it could take a while.
I never notice it before but Van Goh and Mike Tyson are remarkebly similar, I mean they both have a thing for earsa dn they're both artists, only Tysns canvas is someones body, and his fists are the brushes...and the paint well you get where M going with this
i really want to play the new mike tysons punch out for wii, and yes the old one is a good game too i beat mike tyson it was hard and it was a long time ago see ya
Soda Popinski and his vicious right uppercut! I remember buying the original game for the NES after playing it at the local 7-11 (in the arcade your fighter was just a wireframe). Good times.

The title defense fight against Mr. Sandman in the new Punch-Out!! is definitely a throw back to old Iron Mike. The difference is that there's a lot of little openings where you can punch him out of his rhythm and get stars, and I don't remember that many against Tyson (except for the beginning of the second round).
If you're having trouble against Tyson, just try and survive the first round for now, and try and get him low on life, but don't knock him down. During the beginning of the second, block the jabs and then gut punch him in between jabs. You'll get stars, but save them for when the jab rush ends at 30 seconds. You'll have a good shot at beating him if you start the round with him at low life, because you'll get an early knock down, and then you'll have 3 stars and most of the round left for the TKO.
Read the OP, I would think it answers the question whether this Mr.Sandman is the same character as Mike Tyson
Look, this enemy is a lot more badass than MT: It's MJ
actually he didn't say.. Thanks for making me re-read for nothing.
........... you're not too amazing at reading huh..

look I can bold random shit too,
there was a sandman in original punchout (different record too) and he looked nothing like that. The new one looks like tyson and I assume that tyson isn't in the game
also a little known fact is that tyson was switched out of the game with a character called Mr. Dream. While that is similar name to Mr. Sandman, it could be a totally different character.

wtf do you honestly not get it?
His post, the passage which I put in bold letters meant that Mr. Sandman is NOT the same character as Mike Tyson. I feel like I'm talking to a 5 year old.
There is a Mr. Sandman in both games. He is not the champion in the old one; Tyson is. Sandman is the champion in the new one. The character design in the new one matches the old Sandman, and he fights like the old one the first time around. He fights more similarly to Tyson during the rematch.
Why were you acting like It was Tyson? It was obviously not Tyson, but what he said was all the characters were the same. So hence the question if this was supposed to be a tyson clone. If you watch Sandman's (wii version) move set you will see that it is very similar to Tyson and he even looks like him a bit. Doesn't look like the old sandman.
Like why the fuck did you quote me in the first place?
