Why does it seem like you never really achieve a true ultimate level of fame until you die. Look at the cases of MJ and Heath Ledger.
MJ, while he was alive, was often times hated and joked about for being a pedophile and the sort. People ridiculed him for being black and white and often made rumors about him being ashamed to be an African American. Then once he dies, he turns into a "god" and has the most watched funeral of all time. People come out of the wood work praising his life and calling him the best performer of all time.
The same can be said for Heath. Before his death he was basically just another good actor that nobody paid any special attention to. Then he dies and people come from all around the world breaking records for the movie Dark Knight in order to see Heath in his last acting role. Would the Dark Knight have grossed that much movie without Ledger dying? I would say maybe close to, but you would have to be pretty ignorant to say that Ledger’s death had nothing to do with the number of viewers.
With all these deaths of so called celebrities from the A list all the way to the Z list it just seems like their goals of being so famous are only truly achieved once they die.
Anna Nicole Smith is another example. Sometimes the public won't even learn about a person until they die. Did much of you guys knew who she was, or let alone care until she made headlines with her overdose death?
I guess I just feel like that it is sad that we live in a world that really won't accept or appreciate a person in a complete sense until they are dead and their lives are in some sort of review on every news channel.
/end rant
edit: I want to make it a point that I think that people can still be appreciated and shown in a good sense during their lifetimes. However I guess my main point is that once they die, only their good sides are shown and basically all of them are made out to be angels and perfect.

...because when you are alive people cannot ignore your faults. MJ was a pedophile. Anna Nicole Smith was a border-line moron who did drugs and married an old billionaire just for his money. When you die people will be respectful, ignore the problems, and feel obligated to celebrate the positive aspects.

NoobsOfWrath is a pedophile.
Woops, now it's out there.

Another example... Tupac dies and makes more money and sells more albums after dying. I gues what I'm saying is that you never truely know how influential someone is to peoples lives until they die.

prolly partially because it's common to speak only good of dead people.
You don't see people at funerals saying:"He was just a dude, sometimes nasty, sometimes good." he/she is always a wonderful mother/father, always bringing light to people's lives etc.
It's also pussy to talk bad about the dead because they can't defend or correct their flaws, so people only say the good stuff.

I have two words for you...
Happy birthday!

I don't think people had too many positive things to say about Hitler and any others like him. Also only some people ever get more famous after dying. There are many cases of people dying and being forgetten, while some get even more fame.

Just because you came up with an extreme counterexample doesn't mean that most people are remembered only for the good stuff.

Fame is something you want because your parents never loved you enough. Getting famous is the ultimate attention seeking.
