The hardest thing about opening 2 stargates is securing additional expos (other than your natural). Also it's heavy as hell on multitasking. Which makes it somewhat prone to luck to anyone lacking sick and relentless shuttle/corsair control. Still somewhat haphazard for pros as well. Hydras can be burrowed anywhere. Scourges can fly in from anywhere etcetc.

Sairs are used mainly as scouting tools Most zergs almost always get hydras in PvZ, so ovie harrassment is not as easy even if you have a higher sair count. I think 2 Stargate is mainly used when you want total air dominance, so that nothing Zerg throws at it can take it down, not even scourges. This is used in conjunction with shuttle play, meaning lots of shuttle drops and harrassments on the mineral line. It can be very powerful if used right, but it requires a lot of micro and gas investment that might not be worth it

The thing is, modern zergs have adaptedly heavily to this. A lot of Zergs follow Jaedong's response to reaver/sair, which is burrowling all over the map so you can easily pick off shuttles, and front nat pressure with hydras to prevent reavers from leaving P base in the first place. If shuttle actually does manage to drop in Zerg base, Z's quick reaction of burrowing drones will leave reavers doing zero damage. I strongly believe +1 speedlot / archon push is a much stronger build on most maps

there is some example from stork&Kal use 2 reaver + sair / sped +1 zealot atk but as azure said the moderm zerg build 5hatch scourge/hydra counter this pretty hard as scourage gain early air dominance prevent you get critical mass of sair .

It's just a really big investment to make when the map doesn't favour it.

It's nice when you have 3 expos really easy like on Arcadia, and it works on maps like Python where you have an island you can take right away... And it was great on Andromeda for the same reasons.... But the latest maps your third is just a bit harder to get at, and also the latest trend of Zealot archon early game has been really effective anyway. It's just a really big investment to make when the map doesn't favour it. Like G-ds Garden and Outsider...
