I'm really pissed right now, some people are abusing race pick, in a way that i see one race as their pick, and they end up with another race. NO, they do not change it in the last seconds, i'm always aware of that since it happened to me for the first time. A player from Bulgaria named go6kazovar, who is bm otherwise too, did this to me twice already. I said, ok it's one person, i will keep my eyes open when i happen to face him again.
And now it happened again!! A guy, named Jerusalem, picked terran, and ended up Zerg. I hope i dont have to explain how large advantage does this mean in ZvZ (your opponent thinking that you are T), luckily this guy was a terrible player, could not take full advantage of it, i gone lingspeed than drones off gas, go massling, than go sporecolonies on 2bases and somehow managed to overcome the disadvantage, and win with mutas, but only because he was terrible.
If any1 is intrested here it is: http://repdepot.net/download.php?type=rep&id=11333&name=Geo.rion vs Jerusalem.rep
When i told the guy "you were T" he only laughed and wrote ^^, being proud his "trick" worked.
What the hell should i do against this? Iccup does not have rules abut this, and i cant really prove it, the best thing i can say is that "conversation". What should i do? Should i use that print-screen whatever to make a photo of the races 1 sec befor the games start every time or what?
Anyone else who had similar trouble? What have you done? I'm so pissed about this abusing-trick right now, even that i did not lose.
PS: On a sidenote, why is that if my internet happens to brake down on the middle of the game where i have absolutely no disadantage i automaticly recieve a loss and minus points, and when s1 is bm and stuff like that, delays the game til he has 2 pylons left than disconnects doesn't get anything, i have to complain, than he will hopefully lose those saved points, but nothing more....

Well just make sure it doesn't happen again, and you can also blacklist him. I don't think its such a big deal, although I also dislike people who change race at the last moment.
|
Yeah, some gh-mercer kid did that to me this season (has happened in previous seasons, too), and then bm'd me... Even if you can literally prove that the guy did this trick to you, iccup doesn't do anything (in my experiences at least). It's ridiculous that people are allowed to do this, but for now, you just have to be happy that it isn't rampant.
It sucks, I know.

It's not that they are just changing their race at the last second -- which is annoying, but if you are paying attention, you will see it -- it's that somehow they are changing races and YOU CAN"T SEE IT. That's an auto loss if the opponent isn't horrible.
I have had this happen a few times, and every time, they end up as toss and they proxy gates in the middle of the map. It's bs.
|
This happened to me once... usually they just switch races in the last moment, it's just as annoying as you aren't really paying attention every time but w/e.
But on one ocasion I actually think that I saw he is Zerg until the very last second, and while my second Barracks was building in game I was scouted by a SCV -___-
|
i don't know if this ever made it so, but years ago say you picked zerg, if you go to choose your race again but leave the cursor above the box, then it will select terran just before game start, but you are still zerg. Don't know if that ever worked though
|
It'd be great if someone could hack SC to make it impossible to change once countdown begins. Or simply reduce the time window where you can change the race.

lol, i lost once a tvz where my opponent thought i was z to speedlings -> 1 hatch lurkers. Vult into fast dropship didnt work too well.

Don't you have a minute or two to disconnect without points loss?
|
The 100% solution to victory here is to go random every game.
Who cares if they do whatever they don't know what you're getting either.
|
yeah its still working, an ally of mine does it sometimes

I think the 2 minute timer has gone around when your barrack is half built (starting it at 11) and at that point it's not sure that you have scouted your opponent.

That happens to me when I join games. That's why I host my own games now and I specifically make a game name that says Pvp or Tvp. Try that, most people who see that join the game with the race you have chosen for them.

Sad thing is i have to join games, becuase for some reason ppl cannot join my hosting

This only happened to me once. I once made a game name "1v1 D PvZ, you Z." The guy who joined chose Z as his race and picked T at the last second without me knowing. The map was python and we were on 9 and 12 oclock bases. I forgot to send a probe out to the nat for an FE so I opened 1 gate tech with an early scout. I saw that he was a T and that he didn't wall off so I took his gas, manner pylon'd a couple scvs and sent in a zealot (the generic gay PvT stuff). After he killed the zealot after a while, I teched to DTs and killed him with those (I am a D level Protoss player so don't crucify me for this). He told me he is actually a P player and that he was going easy on me and left without a gg.
So yeah, basically, asking for certain race opponents doesn't work apparently...

I don't understand that logic at all. Someone who is looking to abuse by changing races is not going to be deterred by a game requesting "x" race. The times I have had this happen to me, are actually the times I have asked for a specific race. A lot of people join the game without even reading it fully, then read it, and instead of leaving -- they try picking their race (not what you asked for) at the last second.
When you make a normal game, people expect you will be paying more attention to their race. When you ask for a specific race, people think they can trick you easier. Which they can, till you catch on.

Yea this sucks. I'm always starring at their race during the countdown, but sometimes they end up being the other race in game >(
The solution to this is early scout. With all this cheese in ICCUP its a good idea to scout early anyway.
