Of course you cant just randomly use one word to mean something totally different inconsistently, you can however form definitions of already existing words and give them a new meaning, on hopes that this definition will catch on as a popular slang phrase. Over time Slang either dies out or it becomes accepted vernacular of a language. Baller may become the new gay or the new cool, or it may not. Time will tell, not some ranting nerd on the internet. So you make no attempt to discern what makes a word turn into accepted vernacular, and what doesn't? What are you arguing? That words can either be accepted or declined? Very deep.

Words are words, their development is beyond the individual. So you make no attempt to discern what makes a word turn into accepted vernacular, and what doesn't? You've basically said nothing. Part of the process of whether a word becomes accepted vernacular or not IS criticism from individuals and groups. My cousin says -out loud- "awesome sauce," all the time, and claims that it's what everyone at her school says. I still have the right to call her a retard for saying it because it sounds stupid. Just like the OP and anyone else has the right to say using the word "baller" to describe anything and everything makes a person sound like a tool.
