playing with toy knights by the stage during the shooting. Can't be done otherwise. Still, I dare you, HBO.

imo this is great news, he's a recognizable name from another successful fantasy book-screen adaptation, and should bring in viewers that were unfamiliar with the series originally. this means, higher chance for pilot to be picked up!

FUck I really hope they do a good job with this. A big test imo is how they do the armor. Martin takes so much care to describe this incredible ornate armor.. if HBO makes these characters look that amazing I will be kinda surprised. Sadly I (pessimistically) expect simple leather vests and shit so the real focus can be on the drama

reposting it here for pics and links IT IS OFFICIAL NOW! Sean Bean is cast for the role of Lord Eddard 'Ned' Stark The rumors were true.. this is great news! He's a great choice and I'm thrilled at the thought of seeing him as Ned. And not only that but with such a big name as the lead, and the weight and fans he carries with him, this can only help boost the ratings and solidify the series' future. I suppose the fans are being listened to! Other roles have been cast as well: Mark Addy will play King Robert Baratheon. From Parris, George R.R. Martin's wife, wrote: I can tell you we have seen Addy's audition tape (Robert and Ned at Winterfell), and he was excellent. Although it was a quick reading, he had a catch in his throat when he referred to L, and his physical presence is that of a man who was once very fit and powerful, gone to seed thru too much good food, good drink, and too little joy in the life he finds himself living now. We liked him immediately. the rest of the cast listings are basically unknowns, which is expected of several of the other roles as well: Harry Lloyd will play Viserys Kit Harrington will play Jon Snow Jack Gleeson is cast for Joffrey, but the only photo is 4 years old when he looks like a little kid, from Batman Begins. ___________________________ You can read about G.R.R.M's reaction here, on his blog. Time Magazine has a blog on hopes for Game of Thrones becoming a 'great drama' all i have to say is, LOL: + Show Spoiler [for fans only] +

So you're looking at what, 2025 the series will finish? That would make him 75 yrs old. Yeah, there are some definite concerns there. And sers, the wait is getting ridiculous. It's been almost ten years since I've read any new material about most of the characters I like. Feast for Crows had everyone I didn't like, except for Tyrion.

Sorry, I'm still pissed off at how Robert Jordan died after making me slog through 15,000 pages of his world and DIDN'T FINISH. Then you look at GRRM who is anything but in the bloom of his health and you have to wonder if that guy's not going to just kick the bucket too. Yeah really, I read this long ago enough that I don't even remember how the two storylines converge, if they actually do, and only some character names. Still great series, I'll have to remember to bring to uni with me after this job-term so I can reread.
