I tried P5R one last time and couldn't get into it. Then I tried XC2 one last time and couldn't get into it. Next up is to try Sonic Frontiers again, to see if I can get into it. After that, I'll be playing Star Ocean: The Second Story R, and I'm optimistic for that game, as the demo was fun

A live-action adaptiaton movie of The Legend of Zelda is in the works. Nintendo announced the upcoming production will be helmed by both Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto and Marvel Studios founder Avi Arad. “This is Miyamoto,” the famed Nintendo designer said in a statement on November 7. “I have been working on the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda for many years now with Avi Arad-san, who has produced many mega hit films.” He coninued: I have asked Avi-san to produce this film with me, and we have now officially started the development of the film with Nintendo itself heavily involved in the production. It will take time until its completion, but I hope you look forward to seeing it. The announcement comes after the animated Super Mario Bros. Movie released earlier this year and quickly became the second top-grossing blockbuster of 2023. Some sort of Zelda production has been rumored for years, but who knows what a live-action movie about Link, Zelda, Ganon, and their battle for the Tri-Force might bring, though. Nintendo recently revealed that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has already sold 20 million copies on Switch. Source

I love Zelda games, one of the bigger Zelda fanboys on this forum for sure. Played them all including adventure of link and rate them highly (2D more than 3D but w/e). But those are games, and that's something completely different from a movie. I'm not really interested at all in a Zelda movie. It won't contain any puzzles or bosses that make the games so great. And the story of the games has always been quite average. Would've preferred another game instead of a movie lol.

I definitely wouldn't say No to another Zelda game (although TotK just came out), but I personally like when my favorite video game franchises become shows/movies, or when my favorite cartoons/anime become games Also, I struck out pretty hard on Star Ocean: The Second Story R. Beautiful game/graphics, but my god is the combat easy. You basically auto-win every battle, even on the highest level of difficulty. They added in all these special arts and skills and upgrades but forgot to make the battles last more than a few seconds while simply auto-attacking. The story drags on, too, with way too much filler dialogue... why are there 10 (not an exaggeration) cutscenes chained back-to-back in some areas? I'm really looking forward to playing these more reliable games, to finish up 2023: Super Mario RPG on 11/17 Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince on 12/1

Mario has tons of consistent, iconic elements and is a lot easier to tuck references into because the design has been more consistent than Zelda has. When you say "Mario movie", I know it'll feature mario and likely some number of bowser, peach, toadstool, yoshi, luigi, koopas, laikitu, coins, stars, powerups, bob-ombs, bullet bills etc. These things exist and are quite consistent across the franchise. Compare that to zelda. Which link? Twilight Princess? Wind Waker? Which Hyrule? Which Ganon? It isn't even that these things are fundamentally different characters between games, it's that their designs have changed and their names are more iconic than one specific design of them. I'm certainly not against a Zelda movie, I'm just mostly curious which game(s) they draw from, and think it's not as easy as a mario movie, because the design isn't set in stone.

Hopefully they get a decent enough plot but also making it fun/comedy.

I think that's a fair point. I wouldn't be surprised if there are references / Easter eggs to many games in the series, but at the end of the day, different Zelda games have different stories. Obviously, we know that Zelda, Link, and Ganondorf are basically guaranteed, and I'd guess that we see some form of Impa, Ganon form, some form of Rauru (probably TotK), Deku/Dodongo/Octorok/Moblin enemies, Gorons, the Zora, and the Rito, too... but possibly every other character/species is up in the air. Will we see Zelda's Sheik or Navi or Majora or The Happy Mask Salesman or Marin or The King Of Red Lions or Midna or anyone else play a serious role in the movie? Tektite / oktorok have been reasonably consistent in the series, as have zora/goron. Maybe I'm underestimating the number of consistent referential bits. I expect it'll be a story using primarily the bits of BotW/TotK with just references to other stuff, especially since a fair few of the Zelda series have remarkably dark themes, and I don't see it going down that route.

Agreed. I think the setting is most likely to reflect the BotW/TotK version of Hyrule and its cast of characters/enemies, given that they're the newest games and have the most copies sold. But even choosing between BotW and TotK, there are some significant differences (sky islands or not, the depths or not, the secondary characters and enemies from BotW vs. TotK, etc.). I'm sure that the first teaser/trailer will answer a lot of these questions!
