Hi,
I used to play on Asia server all the time, I believe this was before remastered, for hunters games. I never lagged, never got banned,
Now when I try to play on Korea and join these games with turn rate set to 24, I see all red and get insta banned every single time.
I live in the U.S and my internet connection is great. Will I ever be able to play in these Korea games or will I always lag? Is it because turn rate is 24?
Any help or insight would be apprecaited.
Thanks!

Yep its cuz the turn rate, u need to play on west server, its almost impossible to play on asia-korea server public games with tr24.

damn what a bummer....
I used to fricken love those hunters games that were always available

Actually works for getting better connection on Korean games. It might be worth a shot. Otherwise EU has the automatic matchmaking BGH games

You can thank Blizzard for this. They made the turn rate of 24 available which greatly increases the latency requirements to play a game, essentially region-locking the player base.
Now, outside of the Korea there's so few players that we don't mind playing with lower turn rates, and honestly turn rate of 16 and up is just fine, which expands the area of potential players (you can cover the majority of the world with turn rate 16 for example).
But inside the Korea the story is different. Since there's so many players there, and admittedly the turn rate of 24 does feel better, they refuse to play with any turn rate lower than that. And to have the latency requirements of turn rate 24 with Korea, you pretty much have to be in Korea yourself, or very close to it. At most, some parts of the US west coast might get it I think.

WE'RE BEING OPPRESSED

damn.
That really sucks... and so do all the neon colors that melt my eyes when I try to play bgh and my ally is pink and my opponent is light pink or w/e. Have to wonder what they were thinking sometimes.

What was the old best turn rate you could get before chaoslauncher? TR8?

I used to be able to play TR24 on kor server until an update happened around 2-3 years ago. Not sure what happened.

out of topic, but i would like to say tr24 made another reaver micro/muta micro level than before.

Yeah I have to do that now, but I don't prefer all opponents being the same color and all allies same color. Before this update I never had to worry about that, colors were very straight forward.

I don't get how people play without shift tabbing to get rid of the annoying colors in team games. Shift tabbing is very detrimental in 3v3 games. It's pretty important to know immediately from looking at the minimap if those red units are zerglings or zealots :d

I've seen you say this before, may i ask what you're basing this information on?
Blizzard released this statement 2019 August, contradicting your statement:
"Prior to 1.18, StarCraft’s codebase supported 3 possible TRs - 24, 12, and 8. In LAN, the game was configured to use TR24. In Battlenet, it was TR8."

I agree with scan on this, the average online zerg and protoss was able to improve their micro by having tr24. This has no affect on pros who practiced on lan already.
If you were a high level online player only from Fish, Brain, iCCup times to now, you would have seen the player base's micro greatly increase.

Thank you for sharing this, I'll give it a shot. I used to have pretty good latency (US west coast usually low tr16 with Korea) but for some reason now I'm getting high tr16 or worse, and when I host games it says "my connection is being routed thru a proxy". Still trying to figure out how to fix that.

One way to play in korea in public games (that you create yourself) is to copy/paste the korean race name from google and create a game like "1:1 terran" (in korean) or whatever, most of the time people will join after a while
