Belgium - Last change for this generation of Belgium talent that burst onto the scene in 2016 when they became the number 1 ranked side according to FIFA. Roberto Martinez will get one more chance a long with the likes of Eden Hazard, De Bruyne and Lukaku you would think to finally achieve the goal of winning a major tournament with this talented squad. They will need a bit of luck, but if they get that luck, they could be a danger.
Denmark - This team just continues to surprise, their form is remarkable, they made the top 4 in the previous European Championships, taking England all the way to Extra Time. Eriksen is back after his horrible incident to lead them into Qatar where if they play like they have been doing the past 2 years, they are going to cause upsets, they beat France twice this year already....
Portugal - This squad is arguably the best squad of the tournament, Portugal is producing a lot of talented footballers right now, however i feel most of this talent is in the forward areas and could be undone defensively. With Ronaldo leading the line still at the age of 37 this could also be a problem with how the game is played in Qatar, but also could be the reason they win the competition. If the attacking talent take hold of the ball and fire on all cylinders, Portugal could well win this World Cup, but if they don't i see them getting exposed by an all-round side, add in they have a tough route to the final, all be it, we could have a Ronaldo vs Messi World Cup Final....we couldn't could we?
Germany - I am probably overrating the Germans here, but its a World Cup, they know how to win them, they are programmed to perform well in this competition as well, so they get the nod here. They have finally started a decent rebuild with a good coach in Hansi Flick and a well-mixed squad of young hungry players with sprinkles of experience with players like Thomas Muller and Manuel Neuer helping out. If Flick finally gets his players to click in this tournament, they will be a danger, but they might lack goals, that is there only issue on paper, if they fix that they will go far, the flip side is, they could fail to make it out of their group, again, if they can't fix that issue.
Argentina - This is the best Argentinean squad in a long time for me, probably since that of 2002, they have match winners sprinkled through the squad, they have some young decent defenders which they haven't had imo again since 2002 and have a strong midfield with the likes of Parades and De Paul. Add in the fact this is Messi last World Cup, he is found some good form this season with PSG, could he go out with that World Cup, this is the best chance for sure.
England - 4th in Russia, followed up with second place in the European Championships, while they have hit a blip in form, they still should compete fairly well and could reignite their form in the tournament. The squad is littered with offensive talent but there might be glaring holes if the defensive lines, but if Southgate lets the handbrake off and lets them attack, there is a lot of talent in this squad, and they could go far with another kind bracket on paper at least.
Netherlands - Louis Van Gaal has rejuvenated this Dutch squad and it looks rather balanced with some stand out young talent through the midfield and forward areas, add in they are in good form both as a team and individually in their domestic leagues, they could go all the way with a bit of luck as they could struggle scoring in the biggest games, but they definity are one of the form sides going into this competition.
Spain - This Spanish squad is looking much better than the previous outing in Russia, they do lack goal scorers which is why they are so low here. They have a very talented midfield, with generational talents of Gavi and Pedri ready to take the world by storm, but they have not got anyone to pass too it feels like? The defense has gotten worse since Ramos has gone and their keepers worry me as well. We all know Spain will have most of the ball when they play vs anyone, that is the style they have made famous since 2008, but they do not have David Villa or Fernando Torres up front anymore so i feel they will come up short.
France - A recent blip in form, but on paper they are still an exceptional side, Mbappe keeps on getting better (even if his ego might be out of control!) and add in FIFA Balon D'or winning Benzema alongside him, if they can supply them and create chances, they will be very hard to stop. No Ngolo Kante in the midfield will be a miss, but they have emerging talents Fofana, Camavinga and Tchouameni they surely will be fine. The only way France lose, is if they infamously beat themselves....again.
Brazil - My favourites are the South America flair machine that is Brazil, Tite has them playing some terrific football, with some very inform players such as Vini Jr and Neymar to name a few. The squad has some exceptional leaders in the squad with Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, Dani Alves and Neymar to show the way for the new stars such as Bruno, Rodrygo, Antony and co. They have only lost once since November 2019, to Argentina in the Copa America final, can they reclaim their throne as the greatest footballing side in the World? I think they can, Qatar conditions will suit Brazil and their players also.
