Didn’t find a thread for this and since CoH is one of my favorite franchises ever made..
Company of Heroes 3 is an upcoming real-time strategy game developed by Relic Entertainment and published by Sega for Microsoft Windows. The game is set in the Italian and North African theaters of World War II, and features new mechanics and modes. As the sequel to Company of Heroes 2, the game is set to be released on November 17, 2022
Putting in several videos from HH as he creates quality content for the upcoming game. You can find more on his channel. Last year he was finally allowed he was somehow somewhat involved and knew the game was already in development like.. 5y ago.
Looking forward to it but I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up delaying the release a little bit because of all the feedback they have received so far. Relic is really listening to us just looking at all the changes they are making to the game after some fair criticism from the community.
Didn’t get the chance to play the Alpha so it’ll be completely new for me too but right now I haven’t had a single game I really wanted to focus on for the last couple of years but with CoH3 coming out that’s about to change. Gonna dive in head first. CoH2 is still active but obviously after all these years, everyone is looking forward to the next title. Even CoH1 still has tournaments which I only found out very recently, haven’t paid much attention to the CoH scene in general for a while now.
CoH1 was amazing, CoH2 was good.. if they end up taking the good stuff from both games and add some new stuff which they’ve obviously done (like actual breaching buildings), the game will have a long run.
Please do have a listen to the podcast (last video in this OP), it’s gonna give you a good idea of where the game stands atm and how it’s been received so far and the ideas and hopes that the community shares.

i love how good RTS games end up with long term followers. long term engagement is objective proof of quality.

didn't David Kim arrive at Blizzard from Relic?
I honestly don’t know about that. Wouldn’t surprise me tbh.
You link that purchase to Steam and you can install it through Steam like 99.99% of the players would want without having to pay the extra 20 bucks if you were to buy it through the Steam Store
So it seems the 4 initial factions will be: Brits & US vs Germans & Afrika Korps (also Germans)
I was hoping they'd make Italians playable and maybe make a German campaign but no... I definitely think CoH1 was better than CoH2 and from what I've seen this game is a little bit closer to CoH1? Definitely no pre order for me. I'll wait for reviews.

There are going to be 6 playable factions including the Italians and Germans. The Alpha mission was with the Afrika Korps so it’s safe to assume there’s going to be a German campaign too.
You can wait for reviews but we all know you’re gonna end up buying it eventually because it’s still CoH (being lighthearted here don’t take this the wrong way lol) and yes, it’s more similar to CoH1 which is a good thing.

Oh nice, do you know if by any chance mirrors will be allowed or same side fights? Like Wehrmacht vs Wehrmacht or Italians vs Germans, or will they keep the Allies vs Axis multiplayer theme?

Good question, I believe they’ll force different factions because hey, you got 6 factions to learn, pick 2 to really grind and mirror matchups shouldn’t even be an afterthought.
It’s different for 2v2’s and 4v4’s though which are popular in the CoH scene. Don’t see them placing any restrictions there.
Honestly looks fun I've only played a bit CoH2 but I love games like HoI4. In that one video the dev is talking about the camera and honestly that's one small issue I had with CoH2 the camera felt a bit clunky or off in some way(its been a while), So it's good to hear they are looking into improving that.
On topic tho: I'm curious on this, ended up playing some CoH2 last summer and watching some tournaments. It's a fun game and slightly different take on the rts genre, definitely looking forward to the release.
Long-term viewers numbers are more impressive than right-after-release numbers. Quite a few games had respectable initial hype and then it died out quickly. I hope CoH3 will not be one of them.
