Call of the Night continues to impress and almost make up for the fact that I spent most of the first episode being creeped out at the teetering line of whether this was an ancient vampire exploiting a kid or two kids where one happens to be a vampire. My Step Mom's Daughter is my Ex is the hilarious trashy rom com that Cuckoos wishes it could be Okay. First off. Take back what you said about Cuckoos. That show is great. Everything else is just straight booty man. BOOTY!
No shot is Cuckoos is better than Step Mom's Daughter. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy Cuckoos, but the fact that the show expects me to take Sachi seriously is insane. Plot wise neither side's parents would ever support Sachi x Nagi beyond the fact that they lived together as siblings for 16 years. Show would be 100 times better if Sachi's point as a character was to comedically sabotage Nagi x Hiro and turbo ship Nagi x Erika instead of wanting to be in Onii's pants
Also I'll ignore the Love Live, Shine Post, and Phantom of the Idol slander as idol anime isn't for everyone.

Pick up 10-15 animes per season, then drop a couple that I don't like. Recently, I have not been watching as much to make way for VN's. And fewer of the newer shows seems to interest me. Right now, only Made in Abyss, Danmachi, and maybe Isekai Ojisan really interest me. The rest are kind of meh.

Did you miss the "close your eyes and the girl you see is your future wife/one you love" bit with Nagi and his dad where he closes his eyes and sees ALL THREE? Its fairly explicit lol

CotN I'm OK with. What's weirdly creeping me out is Higehiro. Despite it being a very wholesome show it just constantly feels very, very wrong. It does tackle some serious issues so maybe that's why, but watching it feels really weird (and yet I can't stop myself from watching it as I'm genuinely intrigued).
Edit: Watched till the end. Really good and wholesome. Still a bit weird but I guess it's hard to do it otherwise considering the problems it's trying to portray.

I feel like that's taking a way too nuanced take in a trashy rom com. But I certainly hope you're right. I will say both the fan wiki and actual wikipedia says Sachi has a brother complex/thing for him so I definitely doubt it

Fuuto Tantei is pretty good. I like the art style and the animation is slick.

Anyone got any advice about Call of the Night? Im debating myself if I should watch the anime or read the mange. I kinda wanna read it but ofc thats gonna cost a bit buying the books. Anyone know how far into the manga the anime will go?

I think its a really unique anime. The absolutely gorgeous background art and shots contrast well with the general 'uglyness' of the characters. The cast has some really charming moments together. I still think its held back by the fact that it can walk the line between really cute chemistry and what feels like a much older vampire exploiting a much less mature child. They always reel it back in before it ever goes too close/over that line but there are a few scenes that start to make me a little uncomfortable. Nothing that ultimately stops me from watching or enjoying the show, but its there nonetheless.

The anime suddenly becomes way more interesting when other vampires get involved (and a lot of the aforementioned issues get answered/resolved in my opinion).

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is really good actually. It will definitely go down in the anime history as one of the genre staples.
I think the CDPR/Trigger team-up was a great idea on this one as it probably made the process of creating this anime much easier. You have all the lore and setting in place so the story writers could just focus on the main plot and characters, plenty of assets from the production of the games (both tabletop and PC) like sketches, drawings and such which probably allowed to cut down on time and cost of some of the background work and animations and last but not least access to the game's soundtrack and sound effects which also helps with that and makes it more rich than your typical anime production.
Overall a great piece of work. Would love to see more series like that coming from such team-ups. Probably better to do short stand-alone series like this one to mix it up instead of dragging something over multiple seasons though.
I think this show had just one problem: + Show Spoiler + Time jumps in David's arc. It's a pretty focal point of the story and we get to see him at 0, 50 and 100 so all the major story beats and plot points are there but we don't really see him at 25 or 75 so the transition feels a bit jarring and not as impactful as it should be. They could definitely give us 2 more episodes for that, so we get to see the time when he's no longer a rookie but not a fully chromed street samurai yet and then when he begins to push his limits and begins to struggle with the onset of cyber psychosis. That's really the only thing this show is missing to be fully fleshed out.

This is as brilliant a write-up of the show that I could have hoped for. I just finished it and I agree with everything. When you get to Episode 9 it's like...nani? Other than that, Trigger did Trigger things and the show was a blast for me. Having played the game and gotten to roam around the entire map a few times (still finding places I haven't seen...I think), this anime nails what the game is about and gives more depth to an already incredibly deep story (if you look, read, and pay attention to the outside that's happening around you).

Classroom of the Elite is probably tied with Edgerunners as best anime of the season. Today's episode was insane.
