Discords focused on translating pro StarCraft guides through community-funding have opened up for each race, with a dedicated translator **(not me)** willing to translate for pay. The discords right now have scheduled videos looking to release near future and are looking for members to help fund the costs going forward. This will be community-funded and with the translator getting paid/min of video translated
Each discord has their own rules on contribution but they all have free guides that are accessible to public. However, Zerg and Terrans do require premium youtube subscription of paid progamer guides (Light/Soma) to access translated content for paid guides so it doesn't hurt the progamer's income.
Goal of the discords are to have highly detailed and otherwise inaccessible Korean guides more widely available for foreigners without also hurting progamers. **Subtitles will be submitted to original Progamers or at very least be attempted to.**
Terran discord currently has plans to translate Rush's public YouTube guide and Light's private paid YouTube Premium guides. I will be involved a little bit translating for Terran discord.
Light's private paid guides will require proof of his premium membership+proof to be granted role to see it.
Oldest discord and most translated content. Zerg discord has plans to finish translating all of Soma's private content and even more of zerg guides, and is looking for funding contributors to help the costs. Requires Soma YouTube premium subscription+proof to access paid content.
Protoss discord has plans to translate Best/Mini/Bisu content, including both publicly available and paid private progamer guides. Protoss discord is looking for contributors involving patreon/paypal donations to keep the translation going. ---- I am hoping going forward foreigners will have more guides widely available while also being able to support Korean progamers and being able to understand the content! The subtitles (at least mine) will be submitted to respective progamer's YouTube channel once done.
Q: Isn't this pretty much stealing content from Korean progamers?
A: Well, I am submitting translated subtitles to official owners of youtube channel before making it unlisted accessible to only discord members. If the YouTube channel does not respond or desires to not participate, the videos will only be shown unlisted that are not available for the public eye. Rush, for example, have accepted the english subs and it has been released only after he accepted the subtitles to his video All in all, all this project is aiming to do is shoulder the translating cost to people who desire more Korean guides but cannot understand Korean.
Q: Are you involved A: just in helping organizing as people have pmed me about this. I am just translating some Terran guides and proofreading
Zerg translation discord has had Soma guides translation project going on for while, and with me and other translation joining recently, we decided to contact Soma about hosting the subtitles. Soma was glad to accommodate them and has hosted our subtitles to his incredibly detailed guides.
Soma's eng-subbed guides are available on his paid membership channel where you pay $5.99/month to access. Currently available subs in ENG are:
1. [ENG] Mineral Boosting that even other Pros want to know, I will tell you all! (Soma Membership #1) 2. ZvT In-base 3 hatch that tons of viewers wanted! 3. [ENG] ZvZ You only need this to master 12pool! (Soma Membership #6) 4. [ENG] ZvZ 12pool only gosus do! +how to deal with 9pool speed (Soma Membership #5) 5. [ENG] ZvP How to 973 vs adun first
These are incredibly highly detailed guide even for Korean standards and top of line stuff. It introduces and explains the game concepts, logics behind moves, map analysis ect. It is surely worth the subscription. Please do support Soma supporting subs on his channel as well as getting cutting-edge meta guides.
I have a quick question: is it possible to know the mouse settings of Zerg pros, including DPI, in-game mouse speed, mouse scaling, etc.? I'm asking for a friend of mine who wants to improve and I'm willing to pay for it~

I believe some progamers gone over this but really, it's just what you are most comfortable with. Hotkeys may be different matter, but mouse speed/scaling....

it's all available in the discords. Posting it public would defeat the purpose of limiting it to general public The ones hosted on player's channel and subbed officially would show up here, and the old free videos that were not hosted (prior to discord formation) would still be there but unlisted so it only shows up to people in discord. Some of the discord is older than this project and had few videos translated already

Yes, I personally agree with you
I'm asking for Caicaizerg, one of the most famous streamers in China. He has spent almost two years trying to find the right mouse settings but he still hasn't succeeded yet. He is only ~2300mmr but his obsession with adjusting his mouse is through the roof...If there's a way to find out pro's mouse settings, it would be really great.

I respect Scan's way of making money from making video guides though.

User was warned for this post.
If it's not me translating, it's someone else with dedicated time willing to do it for money, and there were previously communities such as the thread up there on the forum Translated Pro Videos Coordination Thread that was paying out in first place, and including discords that was up before this project that was paying a lot more for translator to translate content in first place (and this project began to find cheaper alternative to professional translators+crowdfounding), so why not? I was just contacted on this desire to have specific guides translated by some members of community, and I was able to get someone who was willing to translate and set up discords for them so they can have a place to communicate
I am not doing majority of the translations. If you have read the Q&A, you would have realized I am not involved with majority of this translation project, just setting up the platform for the translator who is actually willing to work for $$$.
this is not mentioning the paygated content is only for membership for the said progamer's paid content. This is their paid content, and you need to pay them to access it for integrity reasons. We aren't going to hand out progamer's paid content for free, and it's hosted on their paid platform itself. You seem to be confused that somehow paying for progamer's premium youtube channel has money going to us, but no, all this project is doing is shifting translation cost to community as korean content creators wouldn't find it worth to hire their own
it's either this or you are angry that progamers are charging money for their own premium guides.
hello Membership subscribers I am so thankful that you guys are subscribing to my lackluster guides. This might come as a sudden news but the membership videos will have its last upload next week The biggest reason is the youtube membership commision fee This commission fee is lot larger than I previously thought. I have to pay almost 50% membership fee so I have been thinking it's way too cost ineffective I think it's better to just lower price on guidepack instead and sell that instead, so the membership will have it's last upload and then closed a month later. To current membership subscribers, I hope you guys can watch the ones you haven't watched before and cancel reoccuring subscription. Thank you for subscribing for membership, and have a happy new year!
We will contact soma about his guidepack subbing if it's available.
