He is definitely a guy that is a coulda/ woulda guy.
He is most definetly not lacking in talent or ability.
With a better mentality could have been a Jimmy Butler, Derozan, PG, level guy.
I think so, or at the very worst a guy every year fighting for 6th man of the year with consistent great defense and some pop off offensive games.
Also on Derozan, how does that guy get better every single year? Most one dimensional high volume low efficiency scorers just stay that way, now he is like transforming the bulls into a contender. He got better every year with the raps but he was not this!
i thought the knock on derozan was because of his playoff performances and/or that his teams didnt win said playoff games.
The knock on Derozan is his defense and inability to score in the playoffs when defenders are focused and dedicated to locking him down in a way they don't do in the regular season. He's been working on his playmaking since his last year in Toronto and basically turned himself into a point-guard, which has been really cool to watch.
Part of why he looks so great this year is that the players around him are all really good as well. Lavine and Ball are both shooting 3s at 40% on 7.5attempts per game, he never had that in Toronto/San Antonio. It helps the floor spacing for him so he has room to work inside the 3pt line and gives him solid outlets when he gets in trouble. Vucevic is a solid center too, giving him an inside option. They also all play D. I'm pretty sure this is the best group of starters he's ever played with talent-wise, and it makes him better in return.
Just read an artilcle that just goes into more detail on your points of "point Demar" and his efficency.

I'm a big fan of the guy and I've been keeping an eye on his stat-lines and San Antonio highlights since Masai sent him packing. He had a pretty good thing going with Aldridge until they ran into some injury problems, and SA just really needs to rebuild so he was a little bit in limbo over there. Pretty shitty situation for him playing for a bad team with his reputation. I think it made his last round of free agency tougher on him than it needed to be, but he's ended up in the perfect place for him I think (I also think he would have been great on the Lakers instead of Russ).
I know his iso-game isn't really something that can be relied in playoffs giving him more options to pass to than Slow JV or Injured Lowry (nevermind 2Scared-2Shoot-2Pats) should be a huge benefit to him and the Bulls this year.
I'm not sure they have what it takes to win a championship but could I see them sneaking into the finals? Maybe... The East is really strong this year but so far I don't see a real stand-out team like the Warriors and Suns in the West. I figure it'll end up being Brooklyn, maybe Milwaukee, but I hope it's the Bulls.
I've been saying for a while now Westbrook is trash. I don't understand how in a time that we have advanced statistics out the wazoo people still don't realize it's bad to have someone shooting 43.7% from 2 and 28.8% from 3 taking 16+ shots a game. Amazing.
Clippers have 3 comeback victories from down 24 or more points in the month of January. No George or Kawhi. Last comeback was 35 points last night against the Wizards.
Everyone knows how much i love posting in here... but as much as i love to do so i can't. i've got a tight hamstring. and i've got 100% medical proof.. i've got an MRI to prove it. Usually, an ultrasound is used to look for inflammation.. but that's beside the point. An MRI is a more impressive sounding acronym. The pain is brutal.... not sure how much longer i can continue...
Its depressing trying to follow the Raptors. Lowry's Toronto return game had a median ticket price of $2,000. The city was buzzing about that game. Then restrictions were added and No fans were permitted into that game; Lowry was hurt any way. Toronto now allows 500 people at Raptors games. I am so glad the Raptors won it all before covid hit. That 2019 playoff run was such a blast... two years later those memories are all the more cherished.

If you check out Derozan during in depth interviews it is evident he is a 1st class human being.
He is slow to react on defense. The last 2.5 weeks against good teams he has been getting cooked by smart offensive players. FVV abused him all game long. Former Raptors and TV Commentator Alvin Williams apologized for accurately pointing out exactly how Toronto/FVV was exploiting his lack of defensive awareness. If you have the TSN and SportsNet online packages you can probably see the past Toronto/Chicago game to get Williams' exact insights.
Derozan is a good player on offense and a good team player who helps others around him develop.
Oh my Harder is Sixer. I actually think its a win for both. And no more simmons saga. Id be happy if I wasa nets fan. Which I would have thought when you hear harden trade.

its only a win for sixers cause they now have a player who's going to play for them. overall, i agree with stephen a, nets are a MUCH better team with this trade (if KD can get/stay healthy)

Kings make a trade that made sense for both teams, in which the Kings got the best player in the trade and dumped a really bloated Buddy Hield contract. Coincidentally, 2-0 since the trade. Small sample size, but the Kings look significantly better post Sabonis trade.
Dragic should've just accepted the backup point guard role. It is hard to add a point guard to QB an offense with no training camp and only 20 games left in the season.

Fox and Sabonis are both non-shooters. Halliburton and Turner both have better outside shots. Turner is also more of a shot blocker than Sabonis. Kings could've paired a shooter with a non-shooter instead of going with both non-shooters. It's harder to build around their chosen pairing.
Then they threw in Hield in the trade, who is another shooter. He also has a relatively rare diminishing contract where he gets paid less every year. He could be a decent trade chip to a contender going all in. His contract gets better as a trade chip every year.
