My favourite PartinG memory is when he won a GSL group and then proceeded to angrily call out us who had predicted on TL.net he would be able to advance. Sorry for doubting you, PartinG!

While he got a rather fortunate bracket last year and that probably wouldn't happen again even just a top 8 or top 12 would be a lot of money. I think if you put together what we know about his attitude toward competition or his streaming revenue (from interviews or the leaks), money hasn't been the primary driver for competing in SC2 tournaments for him for a while. I genuinely think his pride makes it so he doesn't want to the fans to see him unless he's playing at a championship-contender level. If he's already spent the last of his mental energy trying to make a Code S run in 2021, I can see why he wouldn't want to go to Katowice with skill that's not up to his standard.

So many great memories, and hopefully a few more left in the tank, but if not - thank you for everything parting <3 Soo and SoS, another names who never get the chance to lift the trophy.

It's not like they didn't lift anything up. Considering it, Paritng is a WC as well, although he has it from a different kind of tournament xD

You could see how heavily GSL losses hit him these last 2 years. He wanted to prove himself with the Code S title that's eluded him his whole career. I feel sad for him to be leaving now without accomplishing his goal, especially when he was so close so many times. Still one of the Protoss GOATs in my eyes

Though he didn’t show it enough in GSL, I’d also have Taeja above Parting in a GOAT ranking Still a great player, hope to see him tearing it up again before he goes to military or, if that’s not possible, see him playing competitively in some game when he’s back.
