Hi all. I'm revisiting sc1 again after 10 years. Used to follow the Korean scene.
I have a query on production buildings. I couldn't find this in my searches. Most results were about sc2 lol.
Basically I'd like to know as a general rule of thumb, how many barracks/gateways/factories/hatcheries etc can be supported by 1 base or gas while leaving room for expansion?

Terran:
TvZ 5-8 barrack on two base (5 barracks you can go 2 staport / upgrades and establish your 3rd / 4th base, 8 rax is more like a semi-all in but you can maintain 8 rax + 2 port production).
TvP 5-7 factories on 2 base where 7 fact you cannot do anything else but units, while 5 fact you can expand and upgrade.
Protoss:
PvZ 8 gate on 2 base is non stop production, then more as you have more bases, 11 gate on 3 base is possible.
PvT same logic but you need way more gates to reproduce fast rather than maintain constant production.
Zerg:
2 hathes per base, e.g:
ZvP 3 base 6 hath and 4 base 8-9 hath if you like to mass.
In ZvT it is gas that matters, so you need less minierals and less hatheries, then 4-5 hatheries for 3 base is normal and 6-8 hath for 4 base - more hathies vs mech and less hathes vs bio.

Koget's numbers are spot on for people with solid macro. However, I will insist that people with worse macro should overproduce production buildings. Extra minerals spent on production buildings only matter if your minerals drop below the cost of those production buildings: if you watch a replay of yourself and you were constantly floating more than 800 minerals (this is honestly very common for players below A/B rank), you could easily have made another 2 gateways, even if you were at 8 gates on 2 bases or 11 gates at 3 bases. This would have given you a bigger army, as the 300 extra minerals spent won't have made you unable to afford anything.

I would just say that 8 gate 2 base PvZ is for a really agressive playstile, or to defend some havy aggression. 6 gates + sairs or drops could do as well, trying to expand faster and using a few cannons to defend.
