revelation of the elves weapons at the end killed the isekai immersion for me 86 was good. the overall story while not new it added some elements that made it a little darker which was nice. the last chapters were a little slow but i think they helped to build the lore. i was surprised to see a second season was coming, imo the 1st one ended in a good place.

the immersion should actually stick around even with the machines. I don't know personally why they have tanks haha, but there is apparently a good reason for it. Keep in mind that we saw admin D plopped a cellphone out of nowhere back in the first cour and at least another time after so the idea that it'll kill immersion now is a bit odd even if the levels aren't the same. Not to mention that Potimas has like tons of body clones on top of being a cyborg and can apparently move his soul or something? There is a lot that we don't know about, including how they got the tanks, why he's a cyborg and what the elves are doing that is threatening the world so I think my immersion stuck. The CGI unfortunately took a hit because they had to redo all the parts they got from the company they outsourced to since it broke which is also why the last episode was delayed. It's too bad honestly, the first cour was quite stellar and it would've been nice to say the second was almost as stellar.

This anime should be a must watch for anyone who likes good mystery animes, even if its a furry anime, in this case i surprisingly really dont mind that fact I just finished Odd Taxi, and I definitely also recommend it wholeheartedly. The writing is extremely tight, and every quip or object, no matter how small, can later come back and become a relevant plot point. The side-stories weave and cross-over with each other elegantly, and the show's ending sticks its landing and ties it all up extremely well.

Reading a bit through this thread it seems Gintama is highly rated too so I'm giving that a go now. But could anyone point me to where I can find decent subs for it? Thanks!

However, Gintama isnt something you should watch as a "new" anime-fan (just my personal opinion). It got hundreds of episodes and its humour isnt made for everyone. But if you are willing to watch that much episodes or just wanna try it, i wont stop you ... I would recommend the JoJo animes instead. Or if you liked Demon Slayer you might also like Dororo or Jujutsu Kaisen as more similar animes?

Of course if you want to disregard that advice, I recommend School Days.

It has a very simply premise, but the intrigue really builds.

If your basis for comparison is Studio Ghibli and Ufotable, you'll be greatly disappointed by the quality of animation that oeky have recommended. Of course if you want to disregard that advice, I recommend School Days. Going by the studio makes a lot of sense actually. Thanks for that advice. I have been watching some of Jujutsu Kaisen and while it's a good show I do miss the animation of Demon Slayer. (and sorry for the late reply, have been away from TL for a while)

The author behind No Game No Life just announced that volume 11 is in the makes and will be released on November 25th. This is a little bit relevant because NGNL was super popular when it aired back in... 2014? (according to google) with a massive cliffhanger and people waiting desperately for season 2. As it turned out the author was / is ill and the last NGNL volume he published was back in February of 2018 (the 10th vol). Relevant because from what I know, back when season 1 of the anime was planned the people in charge of that didn't want to go ahead with the anime with just knowledge about what's going to happen in season 1 and supposedly requested for at least 2 more vols to be out (beyond what point they're animating to) and basicly knowledge of what the 6th one (the vol that was covered by the movie) was going to be about so that they know where things are going with the series. Now with season 2 the assumption has always been that with the author being ill and not being able to write, any potential season 2 was held off for similar reasons. There's barely enough material for a season 2 but not enough for season 2 + planning ahead I guess. So... not to get everyone's hopes up just yet but at least there will be new NGNL content in written form. Author said, probably 2 months ago or so iirc, specifically that he wanted to try writing something short to get back into things and not push it too hard but I'm not sure if that's referring to #11 and it will thus be a more mini-sized sidestory or some other mini project I might have missed. And maybe people get back into the NGNL anime business and we'll have something in 2 or 3 years. But the big tl;dr: No Game No Life Author is writing again after 3.5 years and new volume announced for november 25th!
