I think it kind of says something about most people where outwardly they support a society of equal opportunity, but privately, they hope or believe that they are special and should circumvent the rules made for others that are not as special as they are... and that's the media people consume, lol. I'd argue that some superheroes like Spiderman just have luck/bad luck. I think that that's a thing in most modern stories, our classical literature was just mostly written by nobility for nobility because nobility had the money. Modern fantasy f.e. leans on these classic books, but often has mixed casts of a non-noble core and nobility they interact with and get supported by (Lotr, Wot, Stormlight Archive). I also think that being the chosen one is a story about becoming a hero, which is why I don't mind when it's made clear early in the story (f.e. in wheel of time) of an epic, especially if it gets deconstructed a bit like in wheel of time where the mc tries to fulfill the prophecies in hopes of proving that he is the chosen one in order to rally nations behind him. Japanese media often tries to get the chosen one part in as a gotcha moment to up the antes and imo it works way worse for obvious reasons, especially in adventure stories. But Eastern Asian societies are much more hierarchical than ours, so this probably gets more introduced as a legitimization for the MC to do stuff.

I'd say that speaks more to your ordinary reader than e.g. finding out both your parents secretly had special bloodlines, so you're kind of included now. I mean they target early teens. So fighting a strict disillusioned world while sticking to your ideals is very much in line with what a teen hopes for, and many teens disregard their own parents, so getting to be something special and finding a greater destiny that is not just normal is definitely in line with the typical male early teen power fantasy. The problem imo comes when the bloodline thing isn't used to unlock the greater destiny, but the greater destiny happens first. Because then the bloodline thing just means that all the stuff that happened earlier was just in line with what was expected. That's a general problem in long running stories though, creating interesting stories in line with your story's themes based on your MCs backstory is hard when your story has been running for a decade.

Then again at this point I am expecting Zoro coming from a long line of master swordsmen, Usopp is the son of a famous sniper pirate, Nami is the daughter of a famous cartographer explorer, Sanji is the son of a master chef, Nico Robin came from an island of archaeologists, Chopper was human all along and Franky's father was a robot.

Naruto is the son of a Hokage and has a demon inside him from birth, Ichigo is the son of a powerful Shinigami and later turned out to be a Quincy the whole time, and Luffy is the son of Dragon, grandson of Garp, and is clearly the inheritor of Roger's will and is now also probably the reincarnation of Sun God Joy Boy... Remember kids, if you want to succeed in life you just have to be born into it! Please don't sell my boy Naruto short. His mom also gave him a bloodline that comes with near infinite chakra and he is the reincarnation of the son of Ninja God. but he works really hard so hes relatable

Still, if literally any Sayian of the generation pre-goku/vegeta loved fighting and training half as much as they did, they whole race would still exist.

I think Gon from HxH qualifies as a person from a humble background. His dad is a famous Hunter, but from what I recall those powers are unlocked by hard work and are not predetermined by bloodlines or anything. He just wanted to reconnect with his father, no prophecies there. All I remember is Gon training like hell to overcome obstacles. I haven't read the manga so not the best expert here.

Gon and Killua are both prodigies with strong bloodlines. Pretty much no different than Luffy and Ace if they were the same age and the Manga started with the post-Marineford Sabo Saga.

That's funny coz all of these are true for Zoro (grew up on an island who are relatives of Ryuma and Descendants of Kozaburo, the guy who create wado ichimonji and enma), Usopp (his dad is Yasopp) and Nico Robin (from Ohara). Not sure why Oda broke with tradition for Sanji, Chopper and Franky....
