Hello Guys, I am seeing that in Latam there are several countries that have national tournaments such as:
Peru liquipedia.net
Bolivia (Sponsored by Movistar, Vertagear and Maltín (Energy Drink)) liquipedia.net
Costa Rica liquipedia.net
Latam (Sponsored by Movistar) liquipedia.net
Are there some countries in Europe that have internal leagues?
And why the hell is it so difficult to find a Sponsor here in Europe? Movistar couldn't do it with the BSL, for example?
Thanks friends

EU has significantly fewer players/viewers than Latam, and that is the main driver for sponsorship agreements.

Why is that? Genuinely curious.

SC2 is huge in Europe, also games like Dota2 and CS:GO.
Europe has never been a SC:BW region, except some parts of it before 2010.

The EU BW was pretty significant between 2003-2009? (Significant is strong word, but you know what i mean) After 2010 it seems most EU players/viewers stopped, but i have also notice that LATAM is still going strong - maybe stronger than ever? Is it because of national communities that keep things together?
To be fair, it was mostly Germany, Poland, France, Sweden, the usual countries.

LATAM was always bigger on BW at its peak than any of the above mentioned countries, maybe except Poland and Russia. So I think it's just a re-ignited interest in the game at a smaller scale.
I think stuff like Dota2 is still far more popular, don't get the hierarchy wrong.

In Poland current meta game is chess, and its not a joke. Top streamers are chess players.

Hmm it's great that those corporate sponsors exist for latam events. But those prizes appear to be relatively small. They may go a long way in Latin America, but they are not big enough to mean much to European and North American players. RCG 2021 prize pool is minimum $10,000 for example. BSL's prize pools for the past few seasons have been $5,000. So the lack of corporate sponsors outside Latin America may be unfortunate, but the prize pools of European-led events such as RCG and BSL seem to be doing okay without them, largely because of esport.fund which even co-sponsors your Costa Rica example.
Also there are some incredibly generous European donators such as CRVT and Purepat who together donated more to BSL last season than all those Latam prize pools combined are worth!
As a small footnote, we are sponsored by Trovo.live and now AfreecaTV insofar as they are willing to cover prize pool expenses for us to broadcast exclusive events on their platforms which we have been doing as a way to support and showcase foreign players.

Europe at least from my recollection was always Counter-Strike territiory going back to 2001-2002. StarCraft just wasn't that big in Europe until StarCraft 2, but even SC2 has been largely overshadowed by the juggernaut that is CS:GO.
Conversely Latin America has been a stronghold for both RTSes and MOBAs, particularly Brazil & Peru.
