Its the best non-intra-Straw Hat dynamic in the series, and while Ace dying is a major story catalyst, we should have gotten more of this Ace-Luffy collaboration before Marineford. I'd take 50% less Dressrossa, Whole Cake, and Wano in return TBH. Its the best action in the anime by far. Its just soooooo fun.
It gave story more tension at least, losing ace. Nowadays I don't feel the new world isn't as dangerous as we thought. no one ever dies lol

Well Pedro did die. But I do think you are on the right track. Because it shifted from "Fun adventure manga/anime" to "high stakes battle and political manga" with Marineford, there needs to be more permanent consequences for me to enjoy each arc as much.
Alabasta and Skypeia are like 50% the number of chapters of most the modern arcs, which also let us jump from island to island more, which is really the fun part.

We got a bunch of Ace content with the Goa Kingdom flashback at the end of Marineford. A lot of people forget the post-war arc but it was a fantastic palate cleanser of pure fun adventure right after a heavy political arc like Marineford. The Goa flashback also managed to tie itself into the main story rather well by including the whole Nobles vs. Commoners and Revolutionaries storyline which is basically the overarching plot of One Piece.
We did kind of get the same thing in Wano with the Oden flashback. Oden's story was pure fun adventure with actual series plot ramifications only it ended on a huge downer. Also since Wano is already an incredibly bloated arc, the flashback only served to further expand the story. Too many scabbards, too many side characters, too many wasted chapters.
As much as I'd like for One Piece to return to its roots, that's basically impossible at this point. We're in one of the final arcs of One Piece and are closing out the Yonko storyline. The Straw Hats will have 3/4 red poneglyphs with only one more remaining before they can go to Raftel and finish the manga. Slowing down the story now to just explore would just hurt the series.

Goa wasn't really up my alley. When I first watched it I thought it was filler, that was how forced and dumb it seemed. And I've still never really gotten the point of Sabo.

Sabo is a retcon insert by Oda. Really diluted the death of Ace by just inserting another brudder.

Is it known where the fourth phoneglyph is?
On a side note I don't mind Sabo, he's there to connect Luffy with his father when the time is right and I like him as a character.

Ya'll are heathens. Goa Kingdom flashback was peak One Piece. Sabo would have been fine if he stuck to being his own character and never got the Mera Mera which essentially turned him into Ace 2.0.
As for the 4th poneglyph, it used to be located next to the poneglyph on fishman island, but now it's missing. I'm fairly certain that the Straw Hats will stumble on it as they continue on the grand line. Maybe Shanks moved it? He and Luffy still need to have their reunion after all.

Yeah Sabo getting the fruit was really weak writing for me, that asspull brother should have had a flavor of his own and I think him being this strong Haki dude trained by Luffy's dad was pretty okay by default.

I'm still holding hope that the One Piece enables space travel and the story isn't even close to being done at that point

I'll say that I like Sabo's pipe.
But making it even worse is he's a top revolutionary, and his fruit doesn't even work against the fleet admiral!
Still, with so many possibilities, it is really lame to re-use a fruit like that. A logia makes sense for Sabo, but something Ace complimentary like wind-wind, gas-gas, or even something Bulbasaur like leaf leaf would have been awesome.

I think this new chapter was one of the better paced ones.
I dont like that we are only seeing glimpses of mugiwara fights however chopper's flashback was kind of surprising and the last two spreads quite monstrous. Not just storywise but the drawings were captivating.
What I'm not sure of how did Kinemon cut Kanjuro?
|
Who the fuck is Joy Boy?
I need answers
|
I want to see how Kinemon ends up making it even though his head exploded.
Not sure what the Momo freakout thing is about. Did his Haki activate since he is screaming?
|
Momosuke has been hearing "voices" of people before, as in there are x voices there, so x people. Perhaps now a voice is directly speaking to him?

Oda is really stretching this arc out... We all know Luffy is going to come back and defeat Kaido, can we just get to it?

I know you're joking but I would seriously want this to happen. End Wano in the next 5 chapters and start Raftel immediatley. 2 chapters reunion with Shanks. 1 chapter getting to Lodestar. 2 chapters getting to Raftel. 5-10 chapters fighting with Blackbeard. Maybe another 5-10 chapters resolving the WG plotline. And leave a couple for the epilogue.
That's a maximum of 30 chapters to end One Piece. If Oda doesn't take any breaks, we can end it this year, and everyone can finally move on with their lives.

Last 3 pages are beautiful. I keep looking at them.
