I don't think any other comic book movie comes close. #1 Alfred : "you are getting lost inside this monster you've created ...you also have the Wayne name to think about" Bruce : "i don't care about my name" Alfred: "well your father did... and that's all that is left of him.." #2 Bruce leaving an expensive hotel restaurant with 2 hot babes after a long night of partying and he bumps into Rachel. Rachel to Bruce: "but its not who you are underneath... its what you do that defines you" Thomas Wayne was a healer... a doctor of medicine. Bruce Wayne was a seemingly erratic violent warrior/guardian. The acting in Batman Begins is off the charts great. It's my favorite one of the three as well. While the evil ninja organization is a bit... dated as an idea, I thought that the making of Batman made him a much more relatable character than in dark knight where he is more batman and less Bruce Wayne. And while I prefer the Joker over the villain of part 1 dark knight suffers from having too many villains and too much stuff going on and it imo detracts from the story. The only thing I didn't like about Batman begins was that his reasoning for why his killing is supposedly legitimate at the end was really dumb. I find Sin City really hard to compare, but would throw that into the ring for greatest comic book adaptions. Totally different movie though.

+ Show Spoiler + The Cole character is so fucking dumb as well as boring... What is the point of his character? Add to the fact Johnny Cage isn't in the film so as to make room for this boring sock puppet makes it even worse. Otherwise pretty good film.

You nailed it. + Show Spoiler + Everything about him just pissed me off. It was almost an anime protagonist parody that he was that fucking useless the entirety of the film. And Kung Lao? Come on man. That's my dude! Cole was entirely unneeded in the movie and could have been left out to make the flick better. More Scorpion and Sub Zero would have been better as well. You see the parallels with GvK in what went right and what went wrong Stealth?

I watched it so you don't have to. Music: Terrible Fight scenes: Terrible Dialogue: Terrible and cringe Story: Terrible (how do you fuck up a movie about a fighting tournament?) Characters: Terrible (how come Kano is the most relatable character as most "good guys" are dumb, cringe and horrible people?)

The entire rest of the cast and movie was a miss. Chin Han hard Kano+Kabal were all working really hard with the little they were given. Action movies live and die on good action and good pace. This had both of those.

The pacing of the movie was also very bad. You've had super long build up where the chosen best fighters gather and then they have to do training? Like, seriously, weren't they chosen because they're the best? Why do they have to train now? Then you have the problem of not knowing how much time has passed as you get some poor training/healing montage and then protagonist returns to save his family and it seems like it's the same evening he left them? The only good part of this movie was the first 10 minutes, which gave me hope for an interesting story of Scorpion getting his revenge but then it switched pov to this new shitty loser character... Also, all the fights took place outside of the tournament so why even bring it up?

I mean they said the lines because it's a video game movie and people would be SUPER pissed if they didn't have those. It's literally the thing from the source material. + Show Spoiler + I don't know how you missed that the training was so they could give super powers to people. It was a bit messy at times but the whole scene with the egg roll was great. When you have a movie that has extreme gore in it you need some weaker moves to give it balance and value. I admit the camera work and editing was choppy for most of the middle part but almost all of the fights didn't follow the standard styles of fighting because we've got a giant dude with 4 arms that isn't the end boss. And if you liked the first 10 minutes how did you not like that whole ending. That was incredibly well acted shot and choreographed + Show Spoiler + and gave a payout and ending that was badass for the villain and satisfying for the hero from the start of the film. Also it's 2021 anything with a budget is trying to become a franchise. It's the nature of the Beast.

Fight scene choreography and editing were B-movie quality, the hits didn't feel like they had any impact apart from some gruesome deaths followed by super cringe comments like "fatality, flawless victory" etc. made by the person who killed their adversary. It was hard to watch. How familiar are you with the Mortal Kombat games, i.e. the source material?

I've been playing MK since the first one before even such a thing as cd-rom was invented I don't mind inclusion of iconic quotes but there are way better ways of doing it. If we got an actual tournament and Shang Tsung or whoever would be the judge or announcer of the duels would be saying that I would have 0 problems with it. Seems super strange to smirk and say "flawless victory" or "fatality" yourself after you kill someone, especially coming from the "good" characters... It seems I'm not alone with my feelings for the movie: + Show Spoiler + They gave the movie 5/10 originally then wanted to bump it up to 6/10 because of Kano but ended up dropping it to 4/10 because of all the bullshit (like Cole who lost every fight and the first and only fight he won was against Goro, WTF?!).
