I was thinking they had the best chance of making it out of the west and not being from LA, I think it's probably a 2 horse race, but Utah could certainly prove me wrong they have crushed the regular season.
“It definitely does change that,” Olynyk said. “Usually, your free agency is done July 1 and the Olympics are the beginning of August and you’re good to go. Now, the Olympics are the end of July and free agency is the beginning of August, so it’s kind of flip-flopped. Obviously, that plays a role and you have to think about it, whether it’s insurance or what the best route to go is.
The adjusted Free Agency timeline will prolly make other pending FA's think twice about playing for their country.
if next season starts on time, i would say the raptors will still be playing homes games in florida. unless the international travel policy changes drastically in NA
Maybe I'm way to optimistic but I think by middle of October travel will be opened up, especially business travel likely with some sort of vaccine passport system. The most recent projections (which keep looking more positive with each update) show Canada reaching 100% between July and September and the US is ahead of us.
I think the complications will be around what to with the people who choose not to get the vaccines. I know the NFL has decided that people who choose not to (staff, coaches and other employees) will not be allowed to have direct contact with the players.
So I could see the NBA deciding that if a player chooses to not get vaccinated they would not be allowed to play, or Canada or the US deciding the same, but I think vaccinated people will be able to travel across the boarder by Oct.
Also, the NHL has changed the quarantine period from 2 weeks down to 1 which leads me to believe that even by playoff time that when they Canadian division plays the US teams they may also adjust the rules if everyone is vaccinated.
I'm sure there will be hoops to jump through but rapid testing is already common place, which is what they are using in Israel to deal with the people who choose to not be vaccinated.
This is all so hard to predict because of the variants and that areas in Canada are breaking records for hospitalizations as we speak. But I think when we look that far out and the money at stake for cross boarder travel, especially business I think that when both countries are vaccinated that will be opened up.
When I saw how messed-up, befuddled, and out of position Aron Baynes has been all year .. I wasn't sure if Ibaka and Gasol were defensive savants or Baynes was unable to make decisions at the NBA level of play.
Welp, Khem Birch looks like a fucking defensive genius compared to Baynes.
I'd say Aron Baynes either has the one of the lowest BBIQs in the NBA or he just doesn't care. Man is he awful.
If Boucher is hurt ... i say.. play Birch 48 minutes a game. LOL.
Our favorite person to discuss Andrew Wiggins was the first Canadian born player to reach 10k points. Nash was actually born in South Africa, he is still the Canadian with the most points at over 17k but give Wiggins best attribute availability and that he can get buckets I would be shocked if he did not end his career as the highest scoring Canadian, born or otherwise.
Two way wigs is up to 5th on defensive RPM and most minutes of top 5, haters said it was just early season. But as Lowe and other have said he's a good on ball defender and having better defenders around him have shown it! To get him and the pick for Russel was such a steal for the warriors! If the twolves pick end up 4th after the lottery it is going to be nuts. Wiseman should be better, klay will be back hopefully full strength curry, green and Wiggins will make up a great 5. Then looney is a solid backup big, oubre would be a great 6th man, or maybe get something back in sign and trace. Then they have there pick and twolves if it is out of the top 3! That will be a great roster.

The US now has the problem of too much vaccine and too few people wanting it in certain places. Some states have waived residency requirements. Considering most of you live near the US border, you could theoretically just cross and get vaccinated. And the teams currently stuck in the US should easily be able to get their hands on a vaccine here before going back to Canada. I had to wait until it was available to all adults and I already got mine.
Unless a new variant wrecks us, I think next season should be a lot closer to business as normal, assuming they work something out with vaccine passports. Europe is close to reopening international travel to Americans in a few months and I think they have it worse than Canada in some places. Of course, there's the caveat that next season starts in October, which is when flu/cold/Covid starts to get worse.
Williamson was the victim of some bad officiating at the end of the game. I'm damn impressed with his official position on the issue. There are 35 year olds in the NBA with far less emotional maturity than Zion.
Even if Zion does not always, 100%, react this admirably it is impressive that he did so this time.
For a long time I've thought Thibodeau was an above average coach. He might be better than that. He has taken two train wreck franchises into the playoffs. https://www.espn.com/nba/recap?gameId=401307740
