can anyone explain what the best way to configure this setup would be? nvidia geforce gtx 1050 ti 27inch monitor with hdmi 1.4 and no displayport 4k uhd tv with hdmi 2.0 and no displayport
the graphics card has 1 hdmi, 1 dvi and 1 dp. which port into where using which cables and recommended display settings? this is assuming i want to connect both screens simultaneously obviously. also would there be any performance issues i should probably be aware of and how would setting up either of the screens as the primary monitor affect the other screen? thanks in advance

HDMI depends mostly on the version on whether it can handle >1080p. The recent stuff can (version 2 for 4k), but a lot of stuff is still the older versions. You'll need to check the specs of the graphics card. Not sure if the cables themselves are forward compatible for higher resolution bandwidths.
DVI dual link can handle ~1600p@60, which is too low for 4k (i.e. 2160p).
DisplayPort can handle 4k fine.
If your graphics card supports HDMI 2.0 then you can just use that, otherwise you'll need to find a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter that supports HDMI 2.0+ and use the DisplayPort.
Trying to use a port that can't support 4k will basically result in you needing to lower the output resolution in windows for it to work correctly. I believe you'll either get no picture or flickering otherwise. It may happen automatically in some cases.

apparently the card supports hdmi 2.0 and dp 1.4. since i dont have any dp ports on either screen i guess its hdmi to hdmi on the tv and dvi to hdmi on the monitor?

Should work. If the 27" screen is higher than 1080p make sure you're using a dual link cable.

Ok so I have come upon an issue that I cannot seem to fix or even find a decent rational explanation. While I know there are alternatives I would prefer to try to find out what could have happened.
I have been using Ventrillo 3.0.8 (client) and Ventrillo 3.0.3 (server) to chat with a family member while watching anime since April. The server is running on a laptop connected via cable to the second router in my home (in my room). It uses the default (and unchangeable) port of 3784. I have forwarded ports 3781-3788 on my 2nd router to the WIRED connection on the laptop, and forwarded from router 1 to router 2. As of this past tuesday I got a pop-up stating there was a new client version for Ventrillo version 3 (3.1.0), and suddenly I nor my family member are able to connect to my server.
Now this is where I get confused. I have had to reboot my router to force the port fordwarding back to the correct IP as my laptop connects via wifi as well as wired and I do not have a static IP reserved for the wired connection. But ignoring the fact that my setup is Modem->Router 1->Router 2, Using EITHER the 3.0.8 or the 3.1.0 CLIENT installed on my laptop to connect to the server which is running on the same machine and setting the server IP to either the LAN address (192.168.3.x) OR localhost (127.0.0.1) it still fails to find the server. I just had time to mess with things, wondering if something had changed on my laptop so I just installed the server on my main desktop and tried to connect via LAN IP or localhost with the same results.
I have the old 3.0.8 client installer as well as the current 3.1.0. I have not found any "server" version for Ventrillo 3 newer than 3.0.3 anywhere else online and cannot figure out what would have changed since April that would suddenly produce these results. Both the laptop and desktop are running Windows 7 x64 (Home for the laptop and Pro for the desktop) but I cannot see how "it's windows 7 go upgrade" could have any part unless a security patch OR ventrillo's CLIENT update is somehow killing connections to non "pro" versions of the server.
Any insight on what could cause this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a software solution for buzz coming out of headphones plugged on speakers?

Nope, that's generally due to interference.
You can try separating the headphone cables from other nearby sources of electricity/cabling, and see if the buzz decreases.

Anybody know the reason Twitch has started cutting off streams after half an hour or so with a message about viewing through a 3rd-party site? I don't think this is a bug but I'm trying to figure out what the benefit is for Twitch... and it's a nuisance if I can't just treat TL as a hub for relevant streams as easily.

Computer died during windows update and wouldn’t recover. Was on the phone with Microsoft support for hours but it was turbofucked, couldn’t system restore, couldn’t repair etc. Eventually did a new boot from USB and reinstalled Windows onto the same HDD. Lost all files. My understanding is that the data isn’t erased until it’s saved over and so the data is probably still there, just no longer indexed. Is this correct? If yes, could it be recovered if I took it to a specialist?

If you reinstalled windows, you'll have overwritten some stuff. It's unlikely to be all your stuff. It won't be 100% recoverable, but some of it should be.
Presumably it was previously ntfs formatted (right click drive -> properties in my computer) https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=data recovery ntfs
I don't know if any of the results are good - ex. first one was this, which is free to see files which are recoverable, $100 to recover: https://www.diskinternals.com/ntfs-recovery/recovery-how-to/
The disk itself still works, so you don't really need a specialist, just good software, I don't know what's good though, so you'll have to do a bit of legwork yourself. Good luck. Ideally, you install the recovery software to a thumb drive or something to avoid any additional overwriting of data on the disk.

The data's there until something overwrites the bit on the disk. Once it's overwritten it's gone for good. Best bet is to keep it off and take it to a specialist.

Surprisingly easy, though it cost like $60. I was mostly worried about my music and starcraft replays so $60 felt like a good bargain to get those back.

Nice! Glad to hear it worked out

My Corsair cherry switch keyboard broke off a couple of the buttons (from the red plus sign, half is stuck in the keycaps on 2 keys) Is there a way to fix this without taking it apart buying new switches and soldering them in?
Can I just super glue it?Can I just get replacement red parts? Can I get replacement keyswitches?

You generally have to replace the entire switch. You might get the switch entirely stuck if you try to glue it if the glue protrudes outside the stem. It'll likely be sticky even if it does work.
It's not a difficult task to replace the switches if you have the tools (soldering iron, optional solder sucker) You can generally pick up replacement switches for a few bucks including shipping. You will probably also need the keycap as well, because getting the stuck part of the stem out from the hole is going to be a royal pain.

Ebay/aliexpress will get you lower prices, https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1027 https://www.maxkeyboard.com/cherry-mx-red-keyswitch-mx1a-l1nn-soft-linear.html
Are reputable dealers for switches.
Which corsair keyboard do you have? The K70 was the first one to pop up in google and seems to use plate mounted switches. https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/8ak1e2/what_switches_exactly_does_the_corsair_k70_use/
You'll want to get the one which matches your keyboard. Afterwards, remove the existing switch and solder the new one on.

sometimes my wifi just tanks for no reason. when I go to my computer thats hardwired internet speeds are normal. It's pretty rare when it happens like once every few months. I usually get like 30-60 minimum and it will go to either like 12 or 1-4 and cutting out a lot to the point I can't even run a speedtest consistently and have to constanly retry (I'm getting 4.2 download right now and the upload said 0 so I assume it didn't work). I just ran two tests back to back and got 28 followed by 7.8 that was at 4 for most of it. It just randomly goes away after a certain point (I have no idea when last time this happened I went to bed cause it was late and it was fixed by the morning).
update. resetting it fixed the problem. Is this a sign of the router gradually going bad or just something that happens and not a huge concern.
