I'm mixed about Heist as well. But my concerns aren't so bad, it's mostly some bugs that will get fixed. Such as doors not opening up at all, and doors not opening if you hit "V" too soon so that the hirelings bug out for a while (there are some of them that don't have this happen). Stash thing was the most annoying one though so I'm glad it's fixed.
That being said, I currently feel like Heist is such a big addition that if you focus on it as much as on mapping you don't progress mapping much at all, so for now I'll solely progress the atlas and stash the contracts. That's not because I don't enjoy it, but because I don't necessarily want to do it now and I'm sure it will feel better next week.
I'm also playing a pretty damn tanky char so I'm not having many issues with the escaping, but I can see those mobs camping at the locked doors and shooting all at the same time being a large issue for many people.
Performance has been stellar so far for me, zero lags and crashes. Best league start ever in that regard for me.

Was fun reading the first five pages of this thread afterwards. Expectations from wall to wall.

The reason I liked this game when reading about it was the PvP kek
also those old trailers look so bad to me. tbh even back then I was pretty turned off by the graphics and gameplay, it looked so bad. luckily one of my buddies pushed the game on to me hard
the league system was/is a slam dunk idea for sure, ppl back then were quite excited by the idea

Is anybody else having problems with abyss. They just most often not open to me, properly 1 out of 4 opens. Playing guardian with lots of summons so think it could trigger the problem.

Lot of times the path will just get hung up at one spot even if you kill tons of monsters, and then fail out with no chest/portal. Probably on the short list of fixes soon.

that or the stash was impossible to get...
at least they fixed it

Found it on forum bug report. This is the answer

In the meantime, it appears that killing the Abyss monsters more slowly will usually let you complete the Abyss encounter. Killing them too quickly is likely to fail it.

Curious about the rebalancing of reward chest alerts raising/rewards, esp when they remove alert level from killing guards - I've been zoom-zooming through as a Vortex Raider w/all the phasing/onslaught nonsense rather than killing mobs. 3/6 Uber Lab trials out twelve trials spawned so far, which is a little frustrating, but not as much as getting "an unexpected disconnection has occurred" on wing 1/3 of a grand heist, oof. Stockpiling things until fixes later this week; managed to complete the Deadly Rivalry chain much sooner than expected due to targeting Heist prophecy chests, so hopping into Delve for ex-Vorici socket/link crafting recipes. Great that markers drop in Delve/lab/etc!

Even though it's fundamental to making the league fun, I honestly feel like rewards are the last thing they can fine tune to get right. Did they go too far? Wouldn't surprise me. Haven't played since the fixes today. But as long as they're making some progress toward the core ideas of the league feeling right, they can just buff/nerf the loot accordingly. Nerfing chests themselves was probably overkill if they also made each one raise alert a lot more (which was a sensible solution after removing alert from mobs, if they want to keep the "choose your chests wisely" mentality). But it sounds like the same changes people are upset about right now are also moving in a reasonable direction, just need to be fine tuned.
The biggest take away from all this is that the "tweak the balance / playtesting via the playbase after launch" is still the most annoying part of each new league. But if we accept that as reality, as far as Heist itself, I think it's been decent, and moving in a decent direction, and I have decent faith that they'll keep doing so, at a decent pace.

The league was pretty OP before the nerfs in terms of rewards, at least for someone who doesn't do super buffed engame mapping. Now it still seems very good, I still have full inventory at the end of each Heist usually. Can open all the big chests and then it comes to managing the lock-out timer well. With Isla, once you open all the doors, you usually can grab 5+ more chests and with others at least like 3.
It was pretty braindead between the alarm fix and the nerf, with some gear you could open basically all chests without thinking. It also doesn't surprise me they nerfed the rewards a bit by mixing less desired reward types in, it's something they usually would have done in the first place.
edit: Actually managed to fully loot twice with Isla and Karst on rare maps. I think instead of re-buffing the loot they should rather buff the exp gain. If you sell stacked decks etc it's still like 8c per Heist or something if the zones don't have desireable chests and the monster level is around 80.

well.. I stop to play my Assassin Crakling lance
I'm sad cause I still think it could be good but it need lots more investment which I don't have the currency to do. I was still doing not so bad with the DPS in T8-9 but I died so quickly and I didn't saw me go in red map with my gear.
I did a respect in blade vortex poison and dam it feel much better with less currency involved ! hoping to get in red map this weekend !

I decided to give this league ago. It has been a while since I last played. Betrayel was my last league to be exact. Since I had a large gap before Betrayel as well, the course of the story still feels very new/fresh to me. I probably have to look up a guide again for the atlas once I reach maps. I remember the mechanics gave me a headache last time and I can't remember much of it. -.- At least I decided to play softcore this time so I don't have to worry too much about dying - which is good because I already died once to a random trap in a labyrinth. So rusty...
Anyways, is there any point in doing Heists early on?
|
You have to do easy heists to train your rogues up before you can do harder heists, so you'll have to do some low tier ones at some point. Whether you do that during leveling or when you hit maps, eh, it probably doesn't matter.
Early in the league they were dropping linked items and leveling uniques like candy, which made doing them during leveling good. Now they've been nerfed a bit, so I'm not sure if it's still worth doing them pre maps.

+ Show Spoiler [map guide] +On June 24 2020 11:06 ASoo wrote:Was talking about atlas completion in guild chat; posting a clearer explanation of what I'm talking about here. This is basically the strategy laid out in this guide, but that thread is so wordy that I found it hard to follow, even though it's all correct. Here's what I'm doing: - 1. Do white maps aimlessly to get a few completions for the bonus and a decent white map pool. During this stage you don't care about which ones you're completing; having white map completions won't cause you problems later, because we're going to be using watchstones to prevent bad maps from cluttering up the drop pool.
- 2. Once you have enough white maps that you have several from the same corner region, grab those maps and do them one after another. This should spawn your first Conqueror. Run it and get your first Watchstone. Socket this Watchstone in one of the interior regions. It doesn't really matter which one, as long as you have a couple of map completions for that region so the maps there can drop.
- 3. Do the same for each of the other three corners, fighting the second through fourth Conquerors. Bank their Watchstones, don't socket them in a region. During this time, you should be getting a few drops of maps in the region where you have one Watchstone. You'll use these next.
- 4. Socket two of your banked Watchstones in a different interior region.
- 5. Run maps from the region that has one Watchstone, to spawn your fifth through eighth Conquerors (you should already have these maps because they were dropping during steps 2-3). During this time, you should be getting map drops for the region where you have two Watchstones socketed, but not anywhere else (because nowhere else has enough Watchstones socketed to drop maps of that tier).
- 6. Now that you're done with the first interior region, unsocket its Watchstone, so that it no longer competes on the drop table. Socket three of your banked Watchstones into the third interior region (one where you haven't done any Conquerors yet).
- 7. Run maps from the region that has two Watchstones, to spawn your ninth through twelfth Conquerors (you should already have these maps because they were dropping during step 5). While you're doing this, you should get map drops from the region with three Watchstones socketed.
- 8. Unsocket the two Watchstones from the region you just finished, and socket four of your banked Watchstones into the last interior region where you haven't fought the Conquerors.
- 9. Run maps from the region with three Watchstones, spawning your thirteenth through sixteenth Conquerors, and getting map drops for the last interior region.
- 10. Unsocket the three Watchstones from the region you just finished, and socket four Watchstones into any corner region.
- 11. Run the maps from the final interior region, spawning your seventeenth through twentieth Conquerors, and getting map drops for the corner region you just socketed.
- 12. You now have 20 Watchstones, meeting the requirements to fight Sirus for the first time. Do the Awakener fight. After this point, Conqueror spawns are no longer guaranteed in eligible regions, so it'll take longer to spawn the remaining ones.
- 13. Unsocket the four Watchstones from the final interior region, and socket them into a second corner region.
- 14+. Run maps in a corner region. When you finish a corner region (have fought all four Conquerors there), unsocket its Watchstones and move them to a different corner region which you haven't finished yet. Repeat until you've done all four corners. Then socket all your Watchstones everywhere (for max Awakener level), or in regions where you like the maps (less Awakener level but don't have to run maps you don't like), and farm at will.
...aaaaand now I'm almost as wordy as the guide I started from. The point of this whole rigmarole is that at any time after your first four Conqueror fights, the only valid drop options for maps at or slightly higher than the tier you're running are the region you're currently running, or the region you'll be running next, since everywhere else on the Atlas is nothing but white maps because you don't have any Watchstones socketed there. This makes it way more likely that you'll get the map drops you need (or you're about to need) as you go along, instead of having to buy maps to do progression. https://tl.net/forum/postmessage.php?quote=32194&topic_id=250781

I would honestly recommend skipping Heist contracts until red maps or until you are fine with the atlas you have, they drop like candy in maps and if you always do them your atlas progression just never makes progress.
Okay, maybe that's not a good advice either, since Engineering missions actually are potentially really good for atlas progression if the monster level of the contract is matching the level of maps you are playing or is close to it. So I'd advice doing those if you are lacking maps.
Also don't really worry about the NPC's job level being too low for high level maps, even in red maps the contracts often still give level 1-3 job missions.
|
Thanks a lot guys, that's some good advice and help I can work with!
|
Another exception would be the quests from the green items that you sometimes get in maps, I'd recommend playing these contracts since you can't stash those items and they're required for a challenge and maybe more that I don't know of yet.
