on a more serious note: these groups are pretty amazing. if RIsky takes a map, he should get a special award.

Neeb vs Reynor Head to Head (12 - 11) is about Dead Even with Neeb holding a one game lead over Reynor Neeb vs Serral Head to Head (15 - 21) is closer than the stats say because many games could of one neebs way Neeb vs Innovation Head to Head (3 - 5) Each of his series agains Innovation he took him to game point. Neeb vs Risky i dont have this stat but im confident Neeb wont have a hard time against him. I think Neeb will take first in his Group and win DH Summer.

I'm sure Neeb is in good shape right now, but most of the head-to-head scores are sorely outdated. Note that the last time Neeb won against Reynor was in March 2019. Regardless, I'm sure he'll do quite well in his group. Fun stat is that Neeb has only played one official match versus Risky, and it was a 1-0 back in 2016.

I tend to agree Neeb could cause an upset and I don't discard him. But Reynor and INno are two of the toughest players he could get and he hasnt played vs them for quite some time, so I still consider Reynor and INno heavy favorites in that group. edit : meant Serral ofc, sorry

I dont think there is even a little chance that Neeb will win the event. However I too think that he could very well upset in that group and beat Serral, Innovation or even both if all things go right. However I dont think that he can for example beat Reynor in his current form, or even some other players. I think Reynor will be one of the favourites and can win it all here. Clem played very well and got dominated by him. Same could happen to Maru, if he doesnt bring his A-game here. What goes to forever hope of Maru-Serral, for the first time Im not that excited about it. At least Serral is not in his top form atm and I have no clue how Maru is doing either. It can be very quick 3-0 for the one or other.

During his TSL5 slump his mmr was a dismal 6.4k and his results were a lot worse than his usual "losing the occasional series to an inferior player". In the recent NA tourney you could see that he cut down on the super risky and Patience-like plays (sorry no offence to Patience but you guys know what I mean), and seems to have a much better handle on PvT and PvP as compared to when he was losing to rotti and future just a few months ago. Just for fun: my analysis of Neeb is that he is very slow to adapt to the meta, and that is why he tends to suffer a lot during the early days of a patch or when significant shifts are seen mid-season. The importance of "being used to the meta" is best exemplified in a match last year when he tried to bring Serral into late game and was playing tempest style; you could tell he was totally lost in the matchup. The more in tune he is with the meta, the better his chances. Speaking of Inno vs Neeb: there was a series that Inno won 3-2 recently - lots of mistakes from both players but hopefully an indication of a fun series to watch at the season finals. I've got no doubt that Serral will finish first, so it's really down to Inno vs Neeb imo

His rate of improvement is fairly steady, though, and he is definitely much closer to that ~7k level required to truly compete for big premiers. I did a bit of ladder stalking and saw that he has accounted for a couple of serral's recent ladder losses (he doesn't have many, so this is significant). His weakness is definitely still in PvP and he loses a fair bit to weaker players, although I guess you could say that most 'top protosses' seem to have the same weakness During his TSL5 slump his mmr was a dismal 6.4k and his results were a lot worse than his usual "losing the occasional series to an inferior player". I've got no doubt that Serral will finish first, so it's really down to Inno vs Neeb imo I agree with everything except your Just for Fun analysis. Neeb is an extremely knowledgeable player when it comes to the meta imo. In fact a good portion of his peak success was due to catching on to oracle play. Every pro/caster I hear talk about neeb says that neeb is insanely smart when it comes to the meta. That said it could be that it was due to the fact that he was training in Korea, rather than NA/EU where the meta might be radically different. I don't think so though. I think Neeb slumped because his style of play was hit hard. He tends to play greedy and seems to favor macro play. He was never big on sharp classic/hero-esq timings in PvZ. His greediness has been his achilles heel against Korean Terrans too. Defensive macro protosses (trap, neeb, showtime) just got slaughtered in PvZ last year, with stats the only one having a modicum of success That last neeb-inno series was fun. Neeb brought some crazy phoenix into carrier build on eternal empire and beat inno. As for Serral - I don't think he's going to take Neeb lightly. Serral has been on record saying he doesnt feel as confident against neeb compared to other foreign protoss players. Serral has only gained the upper hand after his breakout in 2018. Neeb beat him 2-0 in some tournament last year and I find it interesting that he's taking games off of serral on the ladder, thanks for that info! Funny thing though is that when Neeb won the NA tournament, he said he really doesnt want to play the european zergs.
